India, Denmark renew pact to support net-zero emissions target

Denmark
have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday, aiming to support India's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 through knowledge exchange and technological collaboration in clean energy solutions.
The agreement broadens the scope of the partnership and it now encompasses advanced areas such as power system modeling.
The agreement was signed by
Pankaj Agarwal
, Secretary,
Ministry of Power, Government of India
, and H.E. Mr. Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Ambassador of Denmark to India, in the presence of
Manohar Lal
, Minister of Power and Housing & Urban 1 Affairs.
Integration of variable renewable energy is also a key focus and cross-border electricity trading is included, as well as the development of EV charging infrastructure.
This agreement follows five years of collaboration; the original MoU was signed on June 5, 2020, and was set to expire on June 5, 2025.
The proactive renewal ensures continuity and it allows for a seamless extension of joint efforts in energy sector development.
