Two Maoists killed in Jharkhand encounter
Ranchi, May 24 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, Jharkhand Police and CRPF troops have killed two top Maoists, including Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad (JJMP) chief Pappu Lohra, carrying a bounty of Rs 15 lakh, and another militant, Prabhat Lohra, in an encounter in Latehar district on Saturday morning.
Police sources said a team led by District Superintendent of Police Kumar Gaurav launched a search operation in Ichawar forest after receiving information that Pappu Lohra and his associates were planning a major incident in the area.
The Maoists opened fire on the security forces, who retaliated, leading to the killing of both Pappu Lohra and Prabhat Lohra.
The successful operation marks a significant blow to the Maoist movement in the region.
