According to police, the pramukh was admitted to Bairgania primary health centre after a bullet hit his leg, while his wife sustained an injury to her head. She was first taken to sadar hospital at Sitamarhi for treatment, and later referred to Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur where her condition was critical.
The criminals also snatched Rs 28,000 cash and their cellphones during the incident.
Meanwhile, the police arrested three persons in this connection. However, the miscreants involved in the firing are yet to be nabbed, and the search was underway to nab them, the police said.
