Presque Isle Partnership combines poker and paddleboarding
(WJET/WFXP) – Card games and kayaks aren't usually associated with each other, which makes the Presque Isle Poker Paddle so interesting.
The 5.5-mile Presque Isle Poker Paddle, hosted by the Presque Isle Partnership, takes place Saturday, June 7, starting at the Lagoons Boat Launch.
But what is a poker paddle? As its name suggests, a poker paddle brings together two American pastimes.

According to the Presque Isle Partnership, groups of kayaks, canoes and paddleboards will set off every 15 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. to explore the Presque Isle Lagoons.
As they paddle, participants will pick up five playing cards at stops throughout the lagoons.

Once they've collected their five cards, those with the best and worst poker hands are eligible to win cash prizes.
It costs $50 to participate and helps with the operations of Presque Isle State Park. There will be prizes and keepsakes available, and lunch at the Oasis Pub & Tiki Bar will be provided from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
