Business award win for Buckley commercial cleaning company
HD Professional Cleaning Services, in Buckley, cleaned up at the Prestige Awards, taking the win for Commercial Cleaning Company of the Year 2025. The Prestige Awards celebrate small and medium-sized enterprises consisting of localised businesses. Starting in June 2020, HD Professional Cleaning Services owner Helen Mendes, from Holywell, has seen the business grow. But it was a tough start. Read more: Helen, now 30-years-old, was homeless with a baby and living in a shelter. In need of a job, she began a part-time cleaning position. Eventually Helen quit the role and started up by herself. She said: "I didn't expect it to grow at all but it just took off, and has grown astronomical since. "It doesn't matter where you come from, you can always make it work." Within two years, the business had hit six figures, and has grown 60% in the last 12 months. Owner Helen Mendes and general manager Caitlin Arrowsmith, at the Prestige Awards in Birmingham. Helen added: "We've grown from word of mouth and repeat business and referrals, and it's only in the last six months that we've started to promote ourselves more. Hopefully we'll see it go to new heights." With an office, and laundrette on Brunswick Road in Buckley, HD Professional Cleaning Services does see walk-ins from the public, as well as servicing their clients, including holiday lets that hire linen from the business too. The company's recent award win is a proud moment for Helen and the 31 members on her growing team. Awards organisers stated great client feedback and company morals around staffing had secured with title. Read more: She said: "I couldn't believe it, I was shocked and really humbled. And the much-loved four-star hotel won the Best Island Hotel Award at the glitzy ceremony last night. The hotel is popular with guests who love nature and spa breaks and is part of the Crerar Hotels Group. The firm has a collection of ten hotels and inns across Scotland and the Lake District. And its sister hotel, Loch Fyne Hotel and Spa, located in the idyllic town of Inveraray, was also awarded 'Highly Commended' in the 'Best Country Hotel' category at the event last night. The award comes after Crerar Hotels carried out a multi-million-pound investment across a number of its hotels. The Isle of Mull Hotel and Spa underwent a £4million refurbishment as part of this investment. The revamp focused on improving its 75 bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as creating a new sea deck and adding luxury suites. It also launched the Oran na Mara Bistro, which has an AA Rosette. The investment also included launching Driftwood Spa, which is a brand-new wellness facility. It has four treatment rooms, a 17-metre swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms. While its outdoor facilities include a 'Wilderness Spa' with a hot tub, sauna and swim deck for wild swimming. Since the transformation, the hotel has become well known for its tranquil spa breaks and its luxurious rooms and suites for those looking to explore the island and beyond.
