Primetime 585 Shining Star: Aimee Turner

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — News 8's Primetime 585 Shining Star features students who brighten their community in academics and sports. Greece Arcadia senior, Aimee Turner, does just that as an awarded three-sport athlete. Turner is active all year round, playing volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, and flag football in the spring. Turner led her flag football team to the semifinals in their first season last year. As their 2025 team captain, the Arcadia team is currently undefeated. In their most recent win, she scored 3 touchdowns as they beat their opponent by 19 points. She is known as the first girl to earn a basketball sectional MVP and not be the winning team in the sectional final. She averages 17 points per game with 10 rebounds and 4 steals per game and has previously won the All-League 1st Team Award. In volleyball, she has also won All-League awards for both honorable mention and 1st Team. Turner has been recognized as a Black Scholar and received the Greece Arcadia High School Innovative Artist award. We would like to congratulate Aimee on her accomplishments! ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Our Primetime 585 Shining Star spotlight for Wednesday features one of the top pitchers in Section V, Geneseo freshman Addy McDonald. McDonald is a two-sport varsity athlete, shining in both softball and volleyball. She has been a part of travel softball as a pitcher since 2020 and currently plays club volleyball for the Volt-Shock team. She began playing varsity softball in her eighth-grade year and holds the positions of pitcher and third baseman. In the 2024 season, she had a .429 batting average and a cumulative 149 strikeouts in the 91 innings she pitched. McDonald has continued to soar this season as she led her team to a 3-0 lead start against teams from Letchworth (7-2), Dansville (19-0), and Warsaw (6-4), striking out 42 batters throughout 20 innings and 2 runs. As far as batting, she hits a .500 with a .714 On Base Percentage. Off the field, McDonald is involved as a member of the National Junior Honor Society, the Geneseo Student-Athelete Advisory Committee, and class advisor for the Class of 2028. McDonald credits her success to consistent practice, confidence, hard work, and having fun. She told Primetime 585 that she is excited to grow with her team in the season ahead. ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Our Wednesday Primetime 585 Shining Star this week puts the spotlight on Mallory Heise, a senior captain on the girls' basketball team in Hilton! Tuesday night, Heise reached 2,000 career points during the team's game against Webster Schroeder. She's Hilton's all-time leading scorer with only two active players currently in Section V Girls Basketball at 2,000+ points. She was also recognized in 2024 as part of the News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Awards. Provided: Primetime 585 Not only is she a skilled basketball player, but she's also considered one of the best soccer players in Section V Girls Soccer. Outside of sports, Mallory maintains an above 90 average grade and is a member of the National Honor Society. Mallory is expected to play D1 basketball next fall at St. Bonaventure after she graduates.
