Inside the UK's ‘strangest' theme park – that's home to the biggest suspended looping roller coaster in the world

A lesser-known UK theme park is home to the world's tallest suspended looping coaster. Fantasy Island, located in Ingoldmells on Lincolnshire's coast, is one of the country's more unique theme parks. The quirky theme park has more than 30 rides but there's one that theme park junkies definitely won't want to miss. Fantasy Island's The Odyssey coaster is the world's tallest suspended looping coaster, standing at 167 feet/51 m high. The spine-tingling ride travels at 62mph and opened in 2002, the year of Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee. Prince Edward was one of the first people to ride The Odyssey. It has five inversions (where riders are turned upside down) including a corkscrew roll and a 124 feet/ 37 m high vertical loop. The Odyssey has a 4.6 rating out of five on Google Reviews with one rider describing it as 'unexpectedly good'. Another rider says: 'I loved it. When I first tried it, it was an amazing ride, probably better than The Smiler in Alton Towers.' The ride sits within Fantasy Island's 'Discovery' category which means it can only be ridden by those 1.1 m tall or above. Fantasy Island adds: 'Hold on tight as you soar through the sky at amazing heights, through a whirlwind of inversions at great speeds. 'The Jubilee Odyssey is a truly terrifying experience and is not a Skegness rollercoaster for the faint hearted.' But The Odyssey isn't Fantasy Island's only standout attraction. The theme park is home to Europe's largest seven day market with more than 320 stalls. Visitors can stop at Fantasy Foods for candy floss, then browse for wooden garden furniture or get a body piercing. The market also has a huge toy shop, face painting, handbag stalls and a baby boutique. On TikTok, @coastertog called it 'the strangest theme park in the UK', noting it's the only place you can go to 'ride the biggest SLC coaster in the world, and walk home with a wooden eagle, dog speaker and a three-piece outdoor furniture set'. A tourist said in a review on Google Reviews: 'The market and all the shops around Fantasy Island are brilliant. You'll find some bargains.' Another said: 'Great rides and a wonderful market makes this a good day out. We enjoyed the various food stalls and even had a cheeky tattoo to round off our visit.' A one day Discovery wristband which allows visitors to access all the park's rides costs £28.80 if purchased online. Visitors can also pay per ride if they get one of the park's iCards which can be topped up by Fantasy Island's cashiers. MailOnline Travel recently revealed where Europe's best theme parks are located - and exactly how much it will cost to visit them.

Royal fury over fake German prince who has met Prince Charles after using legal loophole to gain access to high society

A fake German prince who has rubbed shoulders with Prince Charles has been slammed for using a legal loophole to gain access to high society. His Serene Highness Dr Donatus, Prince of Hohenzollern, has spent the better part of two decades schmoozing with Britain's elite. But Donatus, who is really a 64-year-old music teacher called Markus Hänsel, was only able to do this after paying to be adopted by a minor German royal in the House of Hohenzollern at the age of 42. The real Prince of Hohenzollern, Karl Friedrich, the head of the House of Hohenzollern, has hit out at Donatus for using his family's name. He told The Sun: 'It makes me angry and frustrated, it leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth. 'Donatus is not my blood, he is not a member of the German royal family, he is simply a non-royal name bearer. 'He certainly cannot use the moniker of Serene Highness.' Donatus is connected to several music organisations and charities, alongside King Charles and Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent. He is the Chairman of the Friends of the English Chamber Orchestra and is also ambassador of The Purcell School for Young Musicians, in Bushey, Hertfordshire, both of which are organisations that King Charles is a patron of. Donatus is also a member of the International Board of Governors of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, of which the Duke of Kent is patron, and and Creative Benefactor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. On top of this, he was previously a Principal Supporter of London's Royal College of Music, and a founding patron of the Royal College of Music Prince Consort Orchestra. In one clip taken from his Surrey home, a photo of him and King Charles was seen on the side. Prince Karl told the Sun that he confronted Donatus over his claim to his family's name, and it was revealed that Katharina Feodora, Princess of Hohenzollern, adopted him in around 2003. 'I wrote to Donatus and said I know all the members of my family but I hadn't heard of him. He wrote back and said, 'yes I have been adopted by your aunt Katharina'. 'I then spoke to my aunt and she told me, 'yes well, he offered me such an amount of money I couldn't resist'. She was always short of money. 'There's nothing we as a family can do.' Three years after he was adopted, he married Dr Viola Hallman, heiress of the Theis steel business, who later became Dr Viola Christa, Princess of Hohenzollern. They lived in a castle in Haelen, the Netherlands. Viola died of cancer in 2012. Donatus told The Sun in an emailed statement, written in the third person: 'Donatus has the same legal rank and rights represented in Germany's family law as Karl Friedrich of Hohenzollern, who does not have the authority to speak on behalf of all the members of the family.' He also says he 'financially supports' his 'mother' Katharina. Prince Karl said he is now seeking legal advice on the matter: 'We don't like somebody bringing the family name into a bad light. 'It's obvious he doesn't know me and the history of the Swabian branch of the Hohenzollerns. He's an uninformed man. 'He is not a member of the royal house of Hohenzollern.'

Duchess of Edinburgh looks radiant in a floral outfit and statement hat as she attends the Royal Windsor Horse Show

The Duchess of Edinburgh appeared in great spirits today as she stepped out for the fourth day of the Royal Windsor Horse Show in Berkshire. Sophie, 60, who is Vice President of the four-day annual event held at Home Park, Windsor Castle, beamed as she took part in the British Driving Society Drive during the occasion. The wife of Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, looked typically elegant in a cream blazer and a floral garment. Looking radiant, she completed the chic ensemble with a wide brimmed hat and accessorised with gold hoop earrings. Sophie wore her blonde locks back in a sophisticated updo, while glamorous makeup enhanced her complexion. The Duchess was seen laughing enthusiastically as she wrapped herself in a blanket for the horse and cart ride. The first Royal Windsor Horse Show took place in May 1943 under the name the Windsor Horse and Dog Show. King George VI, Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother) and the two young princesses, Elizabeth and Margaret were all in attendance. On Thursday, Sophie opted for a more laid back ensemble as she attended the four-day annual event. The royal appeared to throw herself into the day out, enjoying a little tipple, treating herself to some chocolate and browsing rugs and baskets at a stall on site. She was seen beaming and laughing enthusiastically as she mixed with other attendees. Sophie, the mother of James, Earl of Wessex, 17, and Lady Louise Windsor, 21, looked typically stylish opting for a dressed-down but elegant look. Sticking to a neutral palette, she paired an off-white, pleated midi skirt with a cream jumper, topping it all off with a navy military style coat complete with gold buttons. She dressed for the cool weather, donning in slouchy suede boots, and accessorised with a brown handbag which had a handle featuring a white floral design. Sophie wore her blonde hair brushed back in to a chic chignon. She sported a pair of dainty gold earrings, which brightened her complexion. The understated duchess kept her make-up simple for the occasion, wearing some bronzer and blush, as well as a slick of rose-coloured lipstick. In her role as vice president of the five-day event, Sophie mingled with the King as well as other VIPs including Crown Prince Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. While Sophie and Edwards's daughter Louise is a keen horsewoman, who often competes in equestrian events, she did not accompany her mother. The King appeared to be in good spirits as he also attended the annual event yesterday. Charles, wearing a tweed blazer, a striped tie and brown Serengeti sunglasses, was pictured on Saturday smiling and waving at the equestrian event, which was a favourite of his mother Queen Elizabeth II. The King was seen in conversation with his brother the Duke of Edinburgh – who is due to attend the Pope's inauguration today. Carrying a long walking cane, Charles was also seen in conversation with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Charles was kept entertained by the Royal Windsor Horse Show, often pointing towards the showgrounds and chuckling with joy. Equally as enthralled by the prestigious event was his sister-in-law Sophie who threw her hands up in despair as she watched the action unfold, before bursting out into laughter after glancing over at the King. The King attended the horse show last year shortly after it was announced that he would be returning to public-facing engagements, indicating the positive effect of his cancer treatment. Queen Elizabeth II was a passionate fan of the event and would frequently be seen walking among the stalls dressed informally and wearing a headscarf. The late monarch also entered many homebred horses and ponies in classes at the show. Indeed Elizabeth made her last visit to the prestigious equestrian event in 2022 - just months before her death.

Prince Edward Attends Pope Leo's Inauguration

King Charles's brother, Prince Edward, is representing the British head of state today at Pope Leo XIV's inauguration mass in Vatican City. Following Pope Leo's election, King Charles sent a private message congratulating the new pontiff and passing along his good wishes. At the inaugural mass today, the Duke of Edinburgh, who was pictured wearing a hat, was not joined by his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. Other royals in attendance included King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, Princess Charlene and Prince Albert of Monaco, and more. The Duke of Edinburgh's attendance at the papal inauguration is not without precedent; in 2013, at Pope Francis's inauguration, Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, attended on behalf of his cousin Queen Elizabeth, and in 2005, at Pope Benedict XVI's inauguration, Prince Philip represented his wife. Prince Edward, as a senior working royal, regularly steps in for his brother on important occasions, including recently the state funeral of former president Jimmy Carter. He also joins the British royal family on all important occasions, such as the events surrounding the 80th anniversary of VE Day. As a Counsellor of State, Prince Edward can also stand in for Charles on official occasions to carry out official duties of the sovereign. Prince Edward also carries out regular royal duties of his own; earlier this month, he hosted the Gold Award celebrations for the Duke of Edinburgh's award recipients at Buckingham Palace. He's also president of the Royal Windsor Horse Show, which concludes today. This is his first time visiting Vatican City in an official capacity; at Pope Francis's funeral, Prince William attended on behalf of King Charles. The youngest brother of King Charles traveled to Vatican City for the May 18 event on behalf of the monarch, where he joined dignitaries at the inauguration mass for the 267th pope of the Roman Catholic Church and first-ever American pontiff. Prince Edward, 61, attended the ceremony alongside British Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and Foreign Secretary David Lammy. He was also joined by several world leaders, including Vice President J.D. Vance, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium. The Duke of Edinburgh — as Prince Edward is titled, taking on his father Prince Philip's former styling — is a working member of the royal family and often takes on duties on behalf of the monarchy. Buckingham Palace confirmed to PEOPLE that Prince Edward is representing King Charles at the inauguration ceremony on May 10. This comes after the King sent a congratulatory message to the newly elected pope as the 267th pope of the Roman Catholic Church. Last month, King Charles sent another representative on his behalf to the funeral of Pope Francis: his eldest son and heir, Prince William. The Prince of Wales, 42, joined foreign dignitaries and religious leaders from around the world, including U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and U.S. President Donald Trump as well as other royals such as Prince Albert of Monaco, King Philippe of Belgium, King Felipe of Spain and more. King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, met with Pope Francis during their state visit to Italy on April 9, just 12 days before he died. After their original plans to meet were canceled amid the late pope's health struggles, they met privately and exchanged gifts. Following the news of the pontiff's death on Easter Monday, the King released an official statement via Buckingham Palace. 'My wife and I were most deeply saddened to learn of the death of Pope Francis,' the monarch said. 'Our heavy hearts have been somewhat eased, however, to know that His Holiness was able to share an Easter Greeting with the Church and the world he served with such devotion throughout his life and ministry.' 'His Holiness will be remembered for his compassion, his concern for the unity of the Church and for his tireless commitment to the common causes of all people of faith, and to those of goodwill who work for the benefit of others,' King Charles continued his tribute. 'His belief that care for Creation is an existential expression of faith in God resounded with so many across the world. Through his work and care for both people and planet, he profoundly touched the lives of so many.'
