Saudi, Turkish FMs Meet in Riyadh, Bolster Bilateral Cooperation

The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, have explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations during a meeting in Riyadh, according to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On Sunday, Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Fidan co-chaired the second meeting of the Saudi-Turkish Coordination Council, which focuses on consolidating political, economic and strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. During the meeting, both ministers held discussions on ways to bolster mechanisms of bilateral cooperation. Furthermore, they explored ways to strengthen joint coordination on issues of mutual concern that benefit the interests of Riyadh and Ankara. Following the meeting, the Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute of Diplomatic Studies, represented by the Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji, and the Diplomatic Academy of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU between both entities aim to enhance cooperation in the field of diplomatic training. On this occasion, the Turkish Foreign Minister hailed the growing momentum in the relations between Saudi Arabia and Türkiye as a 'product of the vision put forward by our leaders,' reported the Anadolu Agency. Fidan also highlighted the deeply-rooted ties between the two countries. 'Turkish-Saudi relations, shaped by historical and human ties, have proven their strength and resilience in the face of challenges and difficulties,' he said. The Turkish Foreign Minister pointed to the robust economic relations, noting that bilateral trade volume had reached $8 billion in 2024. He added that the Saudi-Turkish Coordination Council acts as a 'critical institutional framework for deepening cooperation in fields such as trade, energy, defense, investment, and education.'
