Tory Lanez's ‘Prison Tapes' interrupted by prison riot

While serving his 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez has remained active in the studio, recording prolifically from prison. However, his latest recording session was disrupted by a violent prison riot. According to TMZ, Lanez was laying down a verse for a track when a brawl broke out in the background, causing chaos. Footage obtained by the tabloid shows Lanez rapping while the fight escalates, eventually forcing him to stop as prison officers deployed pepper spray to break up the conflict. This is not the first time Lanez has faced setbacks in his recording efforts. Earlier, prison guards seized his recording equipment during a raid on his cell, citing that inmates are prohibited from possessing recording devices. Lanez's legal team confirmed the seizure, with Ceasar McDowell, CEO of Unite the People, stating that prison officials deemed such equipment forbidden for various reasons. Lanez later expressed his frustration with the situation on Instagram, stating that the real reason for the raid was not his self-recording skills but the impact of his 'Prison Tapes' series. He explained that his recordings, which help fund legal representation for fellow inmates, had become a threat to prison authorities. Despite the interruption of his 'Prison Tapes', Lanez remains resolute in his mission. Since July, he has funded legal representation for 472 inmates and reopened 476 cases. The Canadian rapper, who is currently more than two years into his sentence, continues to use his platform to assist those in need within the prison system.
