Trump's idea to make Americans have babies again gets mixed reviews from experts
President Donald Trump called himself the "fertilization president" during Women's History Month, but some experts cited claims that "baby bonuses," such as the $5,000 plan Trump floated, have been tried in the past and had mixed results. Singapore, Hungary and Australia are three examples of countries where such programs have been instituted. Singapore has been subsidizing parenthood for decades, with the latest endowment per child reaching S$ 11,000 (US $8,000) as of 2023, but the tiny Asian nation still has one of the lowest birth rates in the world. Gabriella Hoffman, an official at the Independent Women's Forum, wrote on social media that baby bonuses did not work in Hungary. Dnc Vice Chair Slams Trump As 'Punk', Would-be Dictator At Fiery Pa Town Hall "Why would we replicate this here?" she asked. Read On The Fox News App That country, led by Trump-favored President Viktor Orban, also incentivizes its residents to have more kids, including through tax breaks for families with three or more offspring. Hungary's birth rate rose slightly about a decade ago but returned to and remains close to one. Australia's program began in 2004 and indexed to inflation in 2008 what was then an A$ 5,000 (US $3,180) for parents per birth. The government's self-reported birthrate statistic was about 1.5 as of 2023. Paula Lantz, a social demographer from the University of Michigan, told the Guardian that in the U.S., the percentage of families having more than one child has dropped and that "there is something else going on" – including non-financial considerations like quality of life effects. An official at the liberal Center for American Progress told the outlet she had a child a few months ago and that the promised $5,000 credit "wouldn't do much" even with good insurance and paid occupational family leave. Obama Slams Pro-trump Men At Philadelphia Rally While Springsteen Warns Gop Nominee Is 'An American Tyrant' Andrea Ippolito, founder of maternal health tech platform SimpliFed, told Fox News Digital that while the $5,000 is a "nice boost," the initiative "just lightly scratches the surface of the support that is needed for families, especially in the early years with childcare and healthcare support that is largely missing from the postpartum care experience." "In order to increase the birth rate, much more is needed to support and ensure that both mom and baby's health is prioritized," Ippolito said. "That means both physical health needs (which are not right now as demonstrated with doubling the preeclampsia rate doubling) and mental health needs." On the other hand, Emily and Nathan Berning – co-founders of crisis-pregnancy support site said that the baby bonus touted by Trump "is a positive step, but it doesn't go far enough." "Financial aid after delivery is helpful, but the real need is stability throughout pregnancy—rent, food, counseling, and emotional support," the Bernings said. "If we want to raise birthrates and protect children, we must act earlier and ensure no woman feels forced into a decision out of fear or isolation." They touted the benefits of pregnancy clinics that are founded by both pro-life and pro-choice advocates, saying that is how to prioritize "compassion over politics." Meanwhile, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, introduced a proposal for the feds to provide $1,000 in an account for each American child. The "Invest America Act" would create "a private tax-advantaged account," and Cruz said in a statement last week the investments can be placed in a broad, low-cost fund that tracks the S&P 500, growing tax-deferred until the individual reaches age 18. Distributions after age 18 would be taxed at the capital gains rate. Fox News Digital reached out to Cruz for any comment on claims from critics that past iterations of the accounts have not been successful. DNC vice chair slams Trump as 'punk,' 'would-be dictator' in fiery Pa. town hall
A Democratic National Committee (DNC) vice chairman fired up a crowd outside Philadelphia on Saturday after calling President Donald Trump a "punk" and accusing his administration of modern-day book burning for adjusting content on government websites. "There is a strategy of authoritarians and would-be dictators and punks like Donald Trump," Malcolm Kenyatta said at a town hall in Levittown that was officially targeting swing-district Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa. As part of that "strategy," Kenyatta said, "one of the first things they go after is history." "We know that before, they used to take the books, put them in a little pile and burn them. Now they try to delete stuff off of our federal websites. But the effect is the same. They want us to forget what we are made of," he went on, in a clip circulated by the left-leaning outlet "The Keystone." Obama Slams Pro-trump Men At Philadelphia Rally While Springsteen Warns Gop Nominee Is 'An American Tyrant' Since taking office, Trump has overseen agencies that have altered or removed content relating to DEI, climate change and gender ideology. Read On The Fox News App "Donald Trump is not the first bully or would-be authoritarian that Americans have taken on. We know it here in Pennsylvania. We don't have a good relationship with kings," he said, as Penn's Woods was founded by Quakers and other religious exiles fed up with European authoritarians. "I'm not bowing to a king." Kenyatta is also the state representative for the Temple University area of North Philadelphia, and the first openly gay person of color to serve in Harrisburg. Who Is The Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Arrested For Trespassing At Ice Detention Center? He added that "people like Fitzpatrick" lack the "guts" to stand up to Trump. At another recent appearance in Berks County – which includes Reading and Hamburg – Kenyatta railed against the arrest of Newark, New Jersey, Mayor Ras Baraka at an ICE detention facility there. "He was peacefully protesting and speaking up for his constituents and his neighbors. He wasn't inciting an insurrection… because if he was doing that, they might have offered him a position in the Cabinet," Kenyatta said. Kenyatta notably finished third in the 2022 Pennsylvania Senate primary won by Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., and unsuccessfully ran for auditor general in 2024 against GOP incumbent Timothy DeFoor. White House spokesperson Harrison Fields responded Monday, telling Fox News Digital that Kenyatta is a "no-name state representative who was trounced in the Pennsylvania Senate primary due to his radical and unserious positions." "The prominence the Democrat Party affords him reflects the party's disarray and desire to satisfy its radical base," Fields said. Trump says US should spend 'less time worrying about Putin,' calls his former advisor an 'ineffective loser'
U.S. President Donald Trump criticized his former national security advisor on Sunday and said the U.S. government should spend less time worrying about Russian President Vladimir Putin amid Moscow's ongoing war against Ukraine. Trump made the comments Sunday night in a pair of posts on his social media platform Truth Social after Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, who served as Trump's national security adviser during his first administration, criticized the president for "coddling Putin" while putting increased pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. "H.R. MCMASTER IS A WEAK AND TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE LOSER!" Trump wrote. Zelenskyy Says Ire With Trump Began With Pro-trump Rhetoric "We should spend less time worrying about Putin, and more time worrying about migrant rape gangs, drug lords, murderers, and people from mental institutions entering our Country - So that we don't end up like Europe!" he said in a follow-up post. McMaster had criticized Trump and Vice President JD Vance after their meeting with Zelenskyy in the Oval Office. During the negotiations, Trump and Vance heavily criticized the Ukrainian president in a tense exchange between the two countries' leaders before the U.S. president cut the meeting short and sent Zelenskyy on his way. Read On The Fox News App Russia Revels In Oval Office Spectacle After Zelenskyy Spars With Trump, Vance "It is impossible to understand why President Trump and Vice President Vance seem determined to put more pressure on President Zelensky while they seem to be coddling Putin - the person who inflicted this terrible war in Ukraine," McMaster said Friday on X. The blowup in the Oval Office was sparked by Zelenskyy's request for security guarantees as the war continues after Russia invaded Ukraine more than three years ago. Russian leaders and Russian state media appeared joyous after the testy exchange. But several leaders from Europe and elsewhere came to Zelenskyy's defense after the exchange, and the Ukrainian president thanked each of them for their support on social article source: Trump says US should spend 'less time worrying about Putin,' calls his former advisor an 'ineffective loser'

Pennsylvania man harbored illegal immigrants in area hit by Haitian influx: Trump DOJ
A Pennsylvania resident has pleaded guilty to harboring illegal immigrants for financial gain in a town that drew national attention last year over an influx of Haitian migrants, the Department of Justice announced this week. Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti said Andy Ha has pleaded guilty to charges of harboring illegal aliens for financial gain and failing to pay more than $3 million in employment taxes. The DOJ announced that Ha owned a staffing agency that provided workers to companies in the area of Charleroi, Pennsylvania. As part of that, he paid over 25 workers who were not legally authorized to be in the U.S. to stay in a former hotel and paid for them to be transported to and from work. The nationality of those workers was not stated. "The defendant broke the law by harboring and employing individuals not authorized to be in the United States," Rivetti said. "In addition, defendant Ha cost the U.S. government millions of dollars through his failure to pay taxes related to his business." The investigation was conducted by the Internal Revenue Service, HSI and Pennsylvania State Police. President Donald Trump had pointed to Charleroi as an example of a town that had been hit by an influx of Haitian migrants arriving under the Biden administration, including under a parole process for four nationalities, including Haiti. Click Here For More Immigration Coverage "The small 4,000-person town of Charleroi, Pennsylvania, have you heard of it?" Trump said in September in Tucson, Arizona. "What a beautiful name, but it's not so beautiful now. It has experienced a 2,000% increase in the population of Haitian migrants under Kamala Harris." Fox News Digital reported from Charleroi in October, and found that some officials and residents believed the impact was exaggerated and the influx had revitalized the town, but others disagreed and slammed what they described as an "invasion."Original article source: Pennsylvania man harbored illegal immigrants in area hit by Haitian influx: Trump DOJ

Top Harris surrogate makes major admission about Trump while mocking Dems: 'Can't sell worth s---'
Mark Cuban admitted this weekend that "Democrats can't sell" and that President Donald Trump is a master at marketing, saying he is better than Paris Hilton and Dennis Rodman. Cuban, who during the 2024 presidential campaign served as one of former Vice President Kamala Harris' top allies and campaign surrogates, also revealed he told Harris advisors to "not even try" advising him on messaging. "Donald Trump is a great salesperson, he really is a great marketer," he said. Motioning with his hands, Cuban continued: "I'd put him up there, Donald Trump, then Paris Hilton, then Dennis Rodman." Tom Homan Tells Migrant Terror Groups Trump Will 'Wipe You Off The Face Of The Earth' The comparison drew laughs from the crowd at the "Principles First" summit in Washington, D.C., to which Cuban responded, "Seriously!" Read On The Fox News App "I mean those two below are some of the best marketers I've ever seen in my entire life, and Donald Trump surpassed them," he said. Cuban, who is a businessman, TV personality and co-owner of the Dallas Mavericks, emerged as one of Harris' most fierce supporters during the 2024 campaign. He received a lot of backlash when he appeared to insult pro-Trump women by suggesting that Trump never surrounds himself with "strong, intelligent women." Riley Gaines Mocks Mark Cuban For Suggesting Pro-trump Women Aren't 'Strong' Or 'Intelligent' Despite this, he had some brutal words to say about Democratic messaging and ineptitude on Saturday. "I learned that Democrats can't sell worth s---," he laughed, according to other clips that surfaced from the weekend summit. "They're so persnickety about every little detail, and that's why Republicans at the presidential level — I don't want to say kicked their a-- because it wasn't a runaway — but yeah." Cuban said that Democrats "had no idea" how to communicate their policies to moderates and small business owners. "If you gave the Democrats a dollar bill and said: 'You can sell these for 50 cents,' they would hire 50 people to try to do it and then would not know how to sell the dollar bill for 50 cents," he continued. "If you gave it to Donald Trump and said, 'Sell this dollar bill for $2,' he'd figure out a way, right? He'd tell you that $2 bill is, you know, huge. … That's the problem, and that's what I learned." Dems Say They're Against Government Waste, But They Hate Doge More He revealed that during the campaign, he told Harris staffers to not even try sharing campaign advice with him. "It got to the point where after the first event I went to, I said to the Harris people: 'You're not allowed to say a word to me. I don't care what you think. I'm just going to do what I think is right,'" said Cuban. Vp Jd Vance Speaks On 'Fundamental Goal' Of Trump Administration At Cpac Address "That in essence is how Donald Trump has become so successful," he continued. "Because he's able to put out messages and people see in him what they want to see." Cuban proceeded to caution that he believes Trump is "still in the salesmanship stage" and his ability to message effectively "doesn't mean that he can execute on them." "I think now people are starting to ask: 'OK, its great to sell it. Now can you execute it on it?'" he article source: Top Harris surrogate makes major admission about Trump while mocking Dems: 'Can't sell worth s---'
