Shane Lowry has spring in his step ahead of big Irish summer

SHANE Lowry is eager to get back to his rural retreat. An unholy early start for Wednesday's Pro Am at the Canadian Open was, for him, a godsend. He pulled and dragged a quartet of plodders around nine holes in quick time and is about to get out the gap before lunch is even considered, never mind served. But first, he has a story about a dog. Two dogs actually. 'Shane finally caved' revealed Wendy Lowry when the clan welcomed a new member last October. Daughters Iris and Ivy were instantly smitten and played a part in giving the very good boy his name, Paddy. Lovely. Only one small snag — one of dad's best human friends has the same name. It helps that Paddy Harrington is not the type to get easily offended. But that doesn't mean he'd let it slide altogether. This is exclusive subscriber content. Already a subscriber? ‘A night in the Burg:' Cole Swindell headlines BMW Charity Pro-Am kickoff concert

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – 'A Night in the Burg' with Cole Swindell officially kicked off the 2025 BMW Charity Pro Am tournament, Thursday evening. The concert also featured special guests including the James Radford Band and Gritty Flyright. It marks the first concert to be held at Fifth Third Park. Many fans said by the turnout Thursday night, they hope there are many more in the future. 'It's amazing,' said Jack McBride. 'Great food, great drinks, you can't go wrong with it.' Fans travelled from all over the country and arrived to the park as early as noon to grab a front row seat. Janene Ciotti travelled from New Jersey. 'I can't even tell you how many times I've seen Cole and how many times I've been to a meet and greet,' Ciotti said. 'He's just awesome. I absolutely love him.' The best part, according to some fans, is how the concert doubles as a charity fundraiser. 'Coming out here and supporting the Pro Am and the organizations they support, it's just an amazing opportunity,' said McBride. Assistant tournament Director, Judson Conwell, said that over the past 24 years, they have raised over $16 million for their features charities. He said four of those charities are based in Spartanburg, making this concert even more special. 'I mean I think it's just a monumental celebration for the Spartanburg community,' Conwell said. 'This park getting opened a couple months ago but then having the very first concert and having thousands of people to come together listen to some music and have fun.' The fun doesn't end here, as Conwell said there is much more to look forward to this weekend. 'Tonight's a very big night but then we have activities Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We have a lot to offer for our 25th anniversary.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Aaron Rodgers' Saga with Steelers Takes a Twist amid Country Club Statement

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The primary period of NFL free agency and the NFL Draft have passed, and Aaron Rodgers still has not made a decision about what to do next season. At this point in the offseason, 31 teams have already addressed their quarterback needs. Only the Pittsburgh Steelers, who let both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson walk in free agency, have uncertainty at that spot. As a result, that has been seen as the most logical landing spot all along. The Rodgers-to-Pittsburgh rumor mill hit a fever pitch recently when a rumor surfaced that the legendary signal caller had joined Nevillewood Country Club, a golf course in Pittsburgh designed by Jack Nicklaus. However, that rumor was quickly put to bed. Rodgers has not joined the club, according to Rick Walsh of KDKA TV. "This rumor is NOT true," Walsh wrote on X. "I just spoke with the Club at Nevillewood President Wayne Chiurazzi, who said Aaron Rodgers did not join. The Club would love to have him if he does sign with the Steelers. It is true that Nevillewood is a beautiful Pittsburgh suburban golf course." Photo byThe Steelers are likely the only team that would even entertain Rodgers at this point in the offseason, barring a change of heart from the Minnesota Vikings on their starter, J.J. McCarthy. Rodgers could still elect to retire and not play in the NFL at all, something that he has teased over the last few offseasons. The Steelers are essentially banking on Rodgers coming to the Steel City next season based on the moves that they have made -- or haven't made -- this offseason. Pittsburgh largely stayed out of the quarterback market in free agency with the exception of bringing back Mason Rudolph and signing former Dolphins backup Skylar Thompson. Many speculated that the Steelers could take a rookie quarterback with the No. 21 overall pick, but they passed. They continued to pass on a QB through the first five rounds before taking Ohio State's Will Howard in the sixth round. Rodgers, while not what he used to be, is clearly a step up from those options and is the best hope that the Steelers have of being a playoff contender again in 2025. While he may not be a Nevillewood member just yet, Steelers fans will be hoping that he is in the area very soon. More Golf: PGA Championship: All 156 Golfers Ranked by Best Shot at Quail Hollow
