Firstly, India will conduct mock drills across four states bordering Pakistan today. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron will be in Singapore as part of the Asia tour he is currently undertaking.
PM Modi will attend Sikkim's statehood day celebrations today while Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Jammu and the border district Poonch to review the security situation. Meanwhile, New Zealand Deputy PM Winston Peters will be on a visit to India.

India to conduct mock drills
India is set to conduct mock drills in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir today (May 29). It is to be noted that the drills will be held in districts bordering Pakistan.
Notably, mock drills were announced for May 7 in 244 districts of bordering states and union territories (UTs). The mock drills come weeks after India launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6-7 against terrorists and their backers in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK).
Emmanuel Macron to visit Singapore
French President Emmanuel Macron will be visiting Singapore today. He will also address the Shangri-La Dialogue on Friday (May 30).
Macron is on a week-long tour of Asia from Sunday (May 25) to deepen ties in defence, energy and technological innovation. Earlier, he took to social media platform X and said that he was in the region to strengthen cooperation in 'key areas such as defence, innovation, the energy transition and cultural exchanges.'

The trip reflects France and the European Union's broader effort to build stronger commercial and strategic relationships in Asia, especially amid concerns over US tariff policies under President Donald Trump.
PM Modi to attend Sikkim's statehood day celebrations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Sikkim to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of statehood day today in the Paljor Stadium. He will participate in the 'Sikkim@50: Where Progress Meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth' programme around 11 am, stated an official notice.
'The PM will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects in Sikkim. The projects include a new 500-bed district hospital worth over Rs 750 crore in Namchi district, passenger ropeway at Sangachoeling, Pelling in Gyalshing district, statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok, among others,' it said. The release further stated, 'He will also release the commemorative coin, souvenir coin and stamp of 50 years of statehood.'

Amit Shah to visit Jammu, Poonch
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Jammu and the border district of Poonch on May 29 and 30. Notably, this will be his first visit to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir following Operation Sindoor.

According to official sources, Shah is expected to convene a security review meeting in Jammu on May 29. On May 30, he is slated to visit Poonch, the district most severely impacted by recent Indo-Pak military escalations, where he will meet families who have suffered losses of loved ones and homes due to cross-border shelling from Pakistan.
New Zealand Deputy PM to visit India
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand Winston Peters will be on a two-day visit to India from today. He is scheduled to meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Hotel Taj Mahal in New Delhi, reported news agency ANI.
According to ANI, Peters' schedule for Friday (May 30) includes a meeting with Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda, at the Hotel Taj Mahal at 3:30 pm. He is slated to depart from the country on the same day.
Since Indian migration commenced around the 1860s, people-to-people contacts between India and New Zealand have significantly strengthened. Currently, about 300,000 individuals of Indian origin and non-resident Indians reside in New Zealand, with the vast majority establishing permanent roots there.
