SINGAPORE – Several home-grown celebrities took to social media on Father's Day on June 15 to share their experience of fatherhood and their love for their fathers.
Singer Derrick Hoh's daughter Nori turns three in August.
He said the biggest thing that stood out for him is how parenthood brings out his insecurities.
'I catch myself questioning my parenting style almost every day. Not because I think I'm doing badly, but because I keep wondering about the kind of person I am today,' the 39-year-old wrote.
Hoh placed third in the men's category in reality singing competition Project SuperStar in 2005.
He added: 'Parenthood has made me more aware. Of my patterns. Of what I say, how I act, and what I carry,' he wrote. 'And I think if not for Nori, I might never have noticed these things at all.'
For former actor Chen Xi, son of celebrity couple Xiang Yun and Edmund Chen, his father is his kopi buddy, best friend, mentor and more. Xiang Yun and Edmund Chen also have a daughter, actress Chen Yixin, 25.
'Happy Father's Day to the man of the house @ – the one who taught me what it truly means to show up for your family with love, strength and endless responsibility,' Chen Xi, 34, wrote. 'And of course, with an epic fashion sense is just a bonus.'
Edmund Chen, an illustrator and former actor, thanked his family for celebrating Father's Day with him.
'Thank you for celebrating Father's Day with a happy breakfast and a cosy lunch,' the 64-year-old wrote in Chinese. 'Thank you for sheltering me from the wind and rain.'
Home-grown actor Desmond Tan, who has a one-year-old daughter, celebrated Father's Day in black.
The 38-year-old shared photos and a short video of both himself and his daughter dressed in black.
'Happy (black heart emoji) day,' he wrote.
The actor, who recently starred in the TV series Devil Behind The Gate (2025), married his university sweetheart in 2021. They are expecting a second child, a boy.
There were also celebrities who remembered their late dads on Father's Day.
DJ-host Dennis Chew, whose father died in February, graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic in May. 'Dad, I know that if you could, you would definitely have come to my graduation ceremony,' the 51-year-old wrote. 'So this photo is like fulfilling one of your wishes from heaven.'
The Love 972 DJ shared an edited photo of himself in a graduation gown together with his late father.
Actress Patricia Mok, whose father died in January, shared a photo of him with the caption: 'Missing him on this Father's Day.'
For actor Shaun Chen, his father, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Malaysia in March, was a 'superhero' to him.
The 46-year-old told Shin Min Daily News that his late father worked hard to raise him and his six siblings. He said his late father was a very optimistic person, and could still ride a motorcycle at the age of 84.
