The co-founder of an AI-based development planning platform supported by the NSW Government consented to an apprehended domestic violence order without admissions after he was charged with assaulting his then-wife. Jonah Turnquist, 35, appeared in Sutherland Local Court charged with common assault in August last year after an alleged incident involving his former partner. He was also subjected to an apprehended domestic violence order by police with the standard order not to assault, threaten, harass or intimidate her. On November 21 last year, the common assault charge was withdrawn and dismissed, but Turnquist consented to an interim apprehended domestic violence order made without admissions through his solicitor Simon O'Toole with a three-month lapsing order. Turnquist is a co-founder of PropCode, a Sydney-based start-up that uses artificial intelligence to simplify development planning. PropCode has been involved in initiatives supported by the NSW Government, including the Early Adopter Grant Program, which aims to integrate AI solutions into local council planning systems. Turnquist is also a volunteer surf lifesaver at Bronte Beach and identifies on social media as a member at Abide Sydney, a Christian church based in Caringbah. In a 2022 post made on the Bondi Salties swim club Instagram, Turnquist shared his love of swimming. 'When I'm swimming, I'm often processing things – work, relationships, love, conflicts,' Turnquist was quoted as saying. 'It's one of the most healthy ways for me to process thoughts and emotions.'
