City invites public to help shape Sunshine Street, open house
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The City of Springfield is inviting the public to attend a public open house to discuss the state of Sunshine Street in an event called the Sunshine Street Corridor Study.
The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3 at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church which is on 316 E. Sunshine Street.
The open house aims to share information and get feedback about Sunshine Street between Glenstone Avenue and Kansas Expressway.
'The goal of the Sunshine Street Corridor Study is to make the street safer, more attractive, and better suited to the needs of everyone who uses it—drivers, walkers, bikers, nearby businesses, and neighbors alike,' said the City's press release.
Two groups will spearhead the study, a technical advisory team—made up of engineers and transportation experts—and a community advisory team—made up of local residents, business owners, and service organizations.
