Major Salmeen Wins World Powerlifting Championship
Major Abdullah Abdulwahab Salmeen of the Interior Ministry and a standout member of the Public Security Sports Association, achieved remarkable success at the World Powerlifting Championship held in Thailand, securing the title of Overall Champion. Major Salmeen clinched first place in the bench press event and dominated the squat category. His stellar performance continued as he won the deadlift competition, earning the prestigious champion's belt and the top overall title in the international event. Brigadier Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayat, President of the Public Security Sports Association, praised Major Salmeen's outstanding achievement and credited the unwavering support of His Excellency Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, as a key factor in the consistent success of the ministry's athletes. He also acknowledged the close and ongoing support provided by the Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, who continuously monitors and motivates the ministry's sports teams in both local and international arenas. Brigadier Al Khayat described Major Salmeen's victory as a reflection of the exceptional talent and preparedness of the Interior Ministry's athletes. Chief of Public Security Attends Police Open Futsal Championship Finale
Manama: Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, attended the final of the Police Open Futsal Championship, organised by the Public Security Sports Association at the Bahrain Handball Federation Hall. The General Directorate of Traffic team won the championship after defeating the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing team in the final match. According to Bahrain News Agency, Lt. Gen. Tariq bin Hassan commended the directives of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, in providing the necessary resources to organise outstanding sports events and championships. He noted that these efforts reflect continued support for sports and athletes across the ministry's teams, contributing to strong performances in both local and international tournaments. He also commended the high level of performance, fair competition, and sportsmanship shown by the participants. He expressed his thanks to the Public Security Sports Association and all organisers for the successful and honourable execution of the championship. Colonel Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayat, President of the Public Security Sports Association, expressed his appreciation to Lt. Gen. Tariq bin Hassan for attending the closing ceremony and for his continued support and follow-up of all sports activities organised by the association. He noted these activities form part of the association's strategy to enhance the physical and mental readiness of public security personnel. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Lt. Gen. Tariq bin Hassan awarded the championship trophy and gold medals to the General Directorate of Traffic team and presented silver medals to the runner-up team, wishing all participants continued success.

Bahrain ATP Challenger kicks off
The fourth edition of the Ministry of Interior ATP Challenger tennis tournament began yesterday in Bahrain, organized in collaboration between the Public Security Sports Association and the Public Security Officers Club. The opening day featured intense matches with a high level of competition from the participating players. Russia's Marat Sharipov started his campaign with a convincing victory over Egypt's Karim Maamoun, winning in straight sets (7-5, 6-2). Sharipov displayed a strong performance, particularly in the second set, where he dominated with powerful serves and precise shots. In another match, Italy's Alberto Brozinetti secured a dominant win over Germany's Justin Angel, also in straight sets (6-1, 6-4), showcasing an aggressive playing style that allowed him to quickly seal the victory. One of the most thrilling encounters of the day saw Colin Sinclair of the Northern Mariana Islands overcome the Netherlands' Ryan Nijboer in a hard-fought three-set battle. Despite losing the first set, Sinclair staged a comeback to claim victory (3-6, 6-4, 6-3), demonstrating resilience and tactical play. Among Bahraini participants, Yousif Qaed fell to Bulgaria's Dimitar Kuzmanov in straight sets, while compatriot Elias Abduljaleel struggled against Russia's Petr Bar Biryukov, who secured a (6-2, 6-3) victory. Egypt's Fares Zakaria impressed with a commanding win over Germany's Patrick Zheraj (6-2, 6-3), displaying speed and power in his shot exchanges. Elsewhere, Georgia's Aleksandre Bakshi defeated Japan's Kaichi Uchida (6-1, 6-4), while Ukraine's Vitalii Sachko earned a solid victory over Ireland's Peter Balderini in straight sets (6-3, 6-3). Germany's Lukas Gerch controlled his match against Ire- land's Samir Hamza Raqiq, winning (6-2, 6-4) with dominant serving and precise shot-making. The day's matches concluded with Russia's Yevgeny Lyutarevich defeating compatriot Ivan Lyutarevich (6-1, 6-4), while the Netherlands' Jelle Sels secured a strong win against Britain's Ali Habib (6-4, 6-2), excelling in an attacking display, particularly in the second set. The tournament will continue in the coming days with more intense matchups expected between top-ranked players. A lively crowd has added to the tournament's energetic atmosphere, with spectators eagerly anticipating further exciting clashes.
