Indefinite protest by Puducherry Technological University faculty members continues
The indefinite sit-in protest by faculty members of Puducherry Technological University (PTU) demanding implementation of Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for promotions, among others, entered the second day.
A spokesperson of the Pondicherry Engineering College Teachers Association (PECTA) said the faculty members had been agitating for long demanding recruitment of faculty and staff, implementation of CAS, formation of Board of Governors, increase in superannuation age from 62 years to 65 years and provision of pension through Grant-in-Aid.
In June 2024, when PECTA went on an indefinite strike, the government and the PTU administration assured the members to implement all the demands. However, even after 10 months, none of the demands have been fulfilled by either the university administration or the government. The Puducherry government has failed to address these critical issues, which has affected the standard of the institution.
The Association demanded expeditious steps to address the long-pending demands of faculty members that are essential for the university's progress and integrity.
