The Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee withdrew its 'rail roko' protest on Wednesday, following the heightened security situation along the Indo-Pak border after Operation Sindoor saw the Indian armed forces target terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The protest call, originally announced weeks earlier, aimed to oppose alleged police repression and forced land acquisitions under the Bharatmala Project. Farmer union leaders accused the Punjab government of turning the state into a 'police state,' citing arrests and heavy crackdowns on farmers resisting land takeovers.
