Stena Line announces 'kids go free' offer on Irish routes as travel costs soar
Stena Line has announced a kids go free offer for families planning a trip abroad this summer, an offer available on multiple routes out of Ireland.
Families can now travel to England, Wales, Scotland and continental Europe for less, after a survey from Legal & General revealed that 42 per cent of families said finances were the main barrier to travelling overseas this year.
In the same report, almost a third of families reported that money-saving measures are now a number one priority in light of the rising cost of living.
Stena Line's offer applies to Economy and Flexi car fares until January 5 2026, if you book your trip before August 31. Children from the ages of four to 15 are included in the deal.
Crossings included in the offer include Rosslare to Fishguard, Dublin to Holyhead, Belfast to Cairnryan and Rosslare to Cherbourg - the latter of which provides a doorway to exploring central Europe.
In addition, parents needn't worry about keeping the children entertained once boarded, as each vessel boasts a wide variety of amenities for both children and adults. Rosslare Europort provides a gateway to Central Europe (Image: PA)
Onboard, the youngest of passengers can avail of the Happy World play areas, as well as free movie lounges and a fully interactive POD lounge on the Belfast to Cairnryan routes.
With children kept occupied for the entire journey, parents can take a moment to relax in the Pure Nordic Spa, available on both the Belfast-Cairnryan and Rosslare-Cherbourg routes. A wide selection of bars and shopping options are available, as well as Taste restaurants aboard every vessel. Duty-free shopping is available on selected routes
Those looking to save a little more while on the move can take advantage of duty-free prices aboard the Rosslare-Fishguard and Dublin-Holyhead ferries, with discounted prices on a wide variety of alcohol, cosmetics, confectionery, perfumes and gifts.
Additionally, all Stena Line ferries are animal-friendly - meaning family pets can be taken along for the journey, with a pet lounge on the Belfast-Cairnryan route and well-equipped pet cabins on others to accommodate any canine needs.
Prices start from €175 per car with one adult. Stena Line's Economy fare currently provides the best value, or if your plans have a habit of changing last-minute, those with a Flexi ticket can change the date and time of their crossing - without the need to pay an amendment fee.
