Humane agents find 56 cats in Boardman home
BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — Humane agents rescued 56 cats from what they described as a hoarding situation in Boardman.
The cats were taken from a home on Glenwood Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
The cats are now in the care of Animal Charity.
According to a post on Animal Charity's Facebook page, the shelter is now in 'extreme need' of various items, including clumping cat litter, litter boxes and Purina Cat Chow. A full list is on the agency's page.
The agency also urges people to reach out if they notice a friend, neighbor or family member is struggling with an inability to care for too many animals. Hoarding is often due to underlying mental health issues, and while most people have good intentions, it can quickly become overwhelming and unsafe, according to the agency.
