Aeril has chilling moment filming horror flick

Compiled by RAHIMY RAHIM, C. ARUNO and R. ARAVINTHAN ACTOR Aeril Zafrel ( pic, above ) claims that a crew member became possessed after chanting a mysterious mantra while shooting a supernatural film, reported Mingguan Malaysia . 'I was informed that the mantra written in the script was a real one. 'While I was reciting it, a crew member actually became possessed. 'Thankfully, the production team had made preparations by having an ustaz on set,' said Aeril. Before filming began, he had also made some personal preparations to 'protect' himself. 'The ustaz asked me to recite certain verses for protection. 'He also reassured me by saying that these 'things' cannot harm or control us. They have their own limits,' added Aeril. 'It would be a lie to say nothing strange happened. 'At one point, I could really feel a presence with me. Some places on set felt extremely eerie. 'The entity even gave a sign that it didn't allow us to film there, so we had to move to a different location,' said Aeril. > Actress Nora Danish revealed that her dream to perform the haj was dashed after falling victim to an online scam, reported Sinar Ahad . 'I was ready, but the call to be God's guest has yet to come,' the star of television drama Puteri shared, adding that she has accepted the fact that she will not be going this year. 'Perhaps this is not the right time. 'Who knows, perhaps I will be able to perform my haj with my future husband,' she said. Nora, whose real name is Nora Mohd Danish Hanif, 43, said she saw the setback as a challenge and a chance for her to reflect on herself. In a separate matter, Nora quashed talk that she was getting back with her ex-husband Mohamad Nedim Nazri. 'Nedim and I can no longer live as husband and wife, but we still maintain a good relationship as mother and father to (our son) Neqayl. 'I understand that in this world, we may need a partner, but I don't think I will get back with Nedim,' she added. Nora and Nedim were married on March 30, 2017, and divorced on June 16 last year. They have a six-year-old son, Mohamed Neqayl. Nora also has a 15-year-old son, Putra Rayqal, from her previous marriage to Datuk Rizal Ashram Ramli. Fresh grads lament wages failing to match living costs

PETALING JAYA: Despite years of escalating living costs, Malaysian graduates feel their salaries have failed to keep up, leaving little room for savings or long-term planning. With starting salaries ranging between RM2,000 and RM3,000, many young workers find it hard to meet basic expenses, raising concerns about the fairness of their wages. Association of Chartered Certified Accountants affiliate Puteri, who wished to remain anonymous, shared that she expected a higher salary upon graduating, given the country's improving economy and her professional qualifications. She said employers must recognise the value of diverse talent, offer fair pay based on skills and invest in training to foster growth. She also called for government policies that promote job creation, skill development and fair labour standards, which should be reviewed and updated regularly. Puteri also revealed that she has considered working overseas in pursuit of better pay, citing that employers abroad often place a higher value on their employees. Similarly, 26-year-old finance executive Nur Nafisah Hamdan said her salary has shaped her lifestyle choices. 'With my current pay, I have adjusted by preparing home-cooked meals during the week and limiting spending on dining out or takeaways. As for rent, I have opted for an older, more affordable house, although it is not in my preferred location.' 'The reality is harsh for many fresh graduates as their pay does not align with the cost of living in urban areas. Most job offers are based on the government's minimum salary, which is RM1,700.' Nafisah urged employers to ensure salaries reflect job requirements and contribute to a healthy working environment. 'Promotions and salary increments matter financially and for employee morale.' For journalist Nurul Haifaa Abdul Halim, 26, her salary is enough for the time being but with her wedding planned for the end of the year, she is starting to worry about future financial commitments. 'True financial stability still feels out of reach. My savings are modest and often used for emergencies,' she said. 'My salary of RM2,700 to RM3,000 is just enough to manage my expenses since I live with my family but it may fall short once I take on more responsibilities after getting married. 'Buying a house seems unrealistic and even planning my wedding has made me reconsider due to the high costs.' She believes Malaysia's education system needs to shift towards developing skills that align with industry demands while employers must offer fairer pay to fresh graduates. 'Employers need to stop taking advantage of fresh graduates and start giving us real opportunities. Enough with hiring only those with experience,' she said. She expressed hope that the government would intervene to control the cost of living and create policies that support youths in building a sustainable future. theSun reported yesterday that Malaysia's minimum wage revisions have not kept pace with rising costs, negatively affecting low and middle-income households. Economists argue that the country's focus on capital growth and low investment in research and development have hindered progress towards becoming a high-wage economy.

(Video) Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus Under Fire After Customer Finds Food Scraps In Her Order

When owning an F&B business, companies should always prioritise hygiene and food safety. Unfortunately, chain restaurant Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus's alleged lapse regarding these issues has prompted major backlash online. TikTok user Puteri Najihah recently shared a video complaining about her order from a Pak Gembus outlet. In her video, the user shared that she placed an online order from the brand's Putra Heights outlet and the meal was delivered via FoodPanda. Unfortunately, when she received her order, Puteri found food scraps and rubbish in the same plastic bag her food was in. Puteri slammed the food chain in her captions, writing, 'How can there be chicken scraps that someone else has eaten? If you guys are doing this to me, what about your other customers?'. The TikToker also criticised FoodPanda's customer service, arguing that their RM3 refund voucher was inadequate. In a follow-up post, Puteri revealed that Pak Gembus has reached out, but hasn't issued her a full refund. Puteri's video has gone viral, amassing over 300,000 views on TikTok alone. Many netizens have commented on the issue, mostly grossed out by the situation. Others lamented that they've long stopped ordering from the brand because many outlets allegedly don't maintain restaurant hygiene and safety. Some even shared their personal experiences with what they claim were unhygienic Pak Gembus staff and dirty premises. The TikTok user isn't the only person who highlighted Pak Gembus outlets' lack of hygiene. Last year, singer Shila Amzah exposed the chain's Cyberjaya outlet's employee for eating while packing an order. In her Twitter post, the star wrote, 'The staff who packed the order was eating fried cabbage, chicken gizzard and tempe with the same hand he used to package our orders. And he was snacking from the food container meant for customers' orders.'. Pak Gembus has yet to make a public comment on the issue. However, given the shocking number of complaints about the brand, we hope they'll take heed. Watch Puteri's video below: Source: TikTok (1)(2), Twitter

#SHOWBIZ: Erma Fatima: Kak Ogy once threw a script at me

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress, director, and producer Erma Fatima recounted a memorable early career experience where she had a script thrown at her by veteran actress Fauziah Ahmad Daud, affectionately known as Ogy. In an audio interview with the Siar digital platform, Erma shared how such experiences shaped her into the resilient artiste she is today. "While acting in the film 'Puteri,' I was once at the receiving end of a thrown script by Kak Ogy. She threw it right in front of me while saying, 'Memorise your dialogue. Then call me.'" Erma vividly recalled the tense moment. "She immediately left the set and refused to come back until I was ready. At that time, it was my first time acting with her. "I was shaking as I held the script. If we're not prepared, we're not only making things difficult for ourselves, but also for others on set, especially those who have memorised the script and come well-prepared. "I just sat there, not moving at all. I memorised the script really well until I really got it," she said. Far from being offended, Erma explained that the incident became a valuable lesson, especially coming from an artiste she deeply admired. "I didn't take Kak Ogy's actions to heart at all. She was my idol since school days. I grew up watching her films. "When she acts like that, it's actually a challenge for me. What she means is, she's challenging, 'If you want to stand by my side, you have to be better', that's a challenge for me." Erma highlighted her own desire to prove her capabilities alongside a seasoned actress. "I was chosen by Uncle Rahim Razali (director of the film 'Puteri') himself. But when paired with a great artiste who has won various awards, of course I want to prove that I am also capable," she said. She firmly believes that Fauziah's actions stemmed not from a 'diva' attitude, but from her unwavering commitment to her craft. "She doesn't throw the scripts because she's a 'diva'. But she knows her rights. When someone comes to the set without preparation, of course she's disappointed. "She wasn't angry because of ego, but because of responsibility. 'I came, I was ready. Why weren't you ready? Why didn't you memorise your lines?'. "So, yes, she had the right to be angry," Erma said.
