DIA adds new flight to major city in Mexico, Denver's largest international market
DENVER (KDVR) — After travel between Denver and Mexico's second-largest city, Monterrey, more than doubled in 2024, the Denver International Airport is adding a new flight.
Starting Tuesday, Mexico-based airline Volaris will operate flights three days per week year-round to Monterrey, according to a Denver International Airport press release. In 2024, nearly 40,000 people traveled between Denver and Monterrey, more than double the demand volume recorded in 2023, according to DIA.
'Amplifying service to major cities in Mexico, our largest international market, further strengthens DEN's global connectivity,' said DEN CEO Phil Washington. 'We appreciate Volaris' contribution to providing more options to fit the needs of passengers and all their travel purposes.'
Volaris first began service at DIA in 2012 with flights to Mexico City and has since expanded to Chihuahua and Guadalajara, and now Monterrey. Volaris is the largest Mexican airline serving DIA.

Mexico was Denver's largest international market in 2024, accounting for almost a third of the total international travel demand, according to the airport.

'Volaris has steadily strengthened its position in domestic and international connectivity, and Denverites are eager and pleased to hear of more non-stop flights to Mexico. Another Mexican airline, Viva, also has a nonstop flight to Monterrey from DIA.
