Khazna launches two new data centres in Abu Dhabi

22 Apr 2025 20:34 DUBAI (ALETIHAD)Khazna Data Centers (Khazna) has announced the commencement of construction on two new facilities in Abu Dhabi—AUH4 in Mafraq and AUH8 in Masdar City. These facilities will join QAJ1 in Ajman, which is currently under rapid development and is set to become the region's first AI-optimised data centre, according to a statement from the three sites are being built to LEED Gold standards and will incorporate technological innovations tailored to support both AI and cloud workloads.'The UAE economy is transforming rapidly as industries across the board continue to embed AI into more of their critical processes. This is creating unprecedented capacity demand for AI-optimised infrastructure, and we're proud to be meeting this demand,' said Hassan Alnaqbi, CEO of Khazna.'The establishment of AUH4 and AUH8, as well as the strong progress we are making on QAJ1, reaffirm our position as a key enabler of the future economy that is currently being built in the UAE.'AUH4 and AUH8 are set to significantly expand the region's cloud hosting capacity, with a combined capacity of 60MW. Scheduled for completion in August 2026 (AUH8) and December 2026 (AUH4), both facilities will utilise a modular design architecture to improve construction efficiency, reduce waste, and accelerate timelines. Additionally, the use of adiabatic free cooling will enhance cooling efficiency and contribute to industry-leading Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) metrics in the QAJ1 facility in Ajman will offer a 100MW capacity and is designed to support the high-density compute infrastructure required for emerging AI-powered applications. The initial project phase, due to complete in December 2026, includes the integration of advanced liquid cooling solutions to manage the heat generated by GPUs and CPUs, enabling rapid processing power for AI AI-powered energy management tools will be deployed at QAJ1 to reduce downtime and optimise resource allocation. With large-scale AI infrastructure identified as a strategic priority for the UAE, the rapid construction of these three facilities will support the country's digital transformation goals, the company stated.
