Qatar takes part in 2nd Asir Investment Forum

QNA Riyadh Qatar participated in the second Asir Investment Forum, held in the Asir region of the Saudi Arabia on May 26 and 27 under the theme 'Asir Flourishes'. The event convened a substantial number of high-ranking officials, decision-makers, and investors from within the Kingdom and abroad. Qatar was represented by a delegation headed by Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Municipality, Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, and Barwa Real Estate Group. The participation underlines the State of Qatar's steadfast commitment to bolstering bilateral cooperation with Saudi Arabia and sharing expertise in urban planning, sustainable development, and investment attraction. The forum is one of the foremost development and tourism platforms in Saudi Arabia. It has focused on exploring the economic, cultural, and tourism potential of Asir, which embraces over 4,000 heritage villages as outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030 goals, a vision that intends to draw 10 million visitors to the region annually. On the margins of this forum, Al Attiyah met with HRH Governor of Asir Region Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed bin Aqeel Al Khateeb, and Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng Abdullah bin Amer Al Swaha. The meeting addressed avenues for boosting cooperation between Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the areas of urban development, as well as investment and municipal integration. Additionally, Al Attiyah took part in the forum's opening ministerial session, which highlighted the role of urban planning and the integration of municipal entities in creating enduring viewpoints. He discussed Qatar's experience in organising the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as a quintessential model of sustainable urban planning and integrated infrastructure. The Qatari economy has remarkably flourished over the past years, especially in the real estate sector, driven by strategic projects and attractive investment legislation within a holistic vision that is based on quality of life and infrastructure sustainability, he noted. Al Attiyah highlighted flagship projects such as Msheireb Downtown Doha and Lusail City, which encapsulate the notion of a human-centered city where the individual and cultural identity are placed at the core of urban planning. This Qatari participation further reaffirms the State's steadfast commitment to reinforcing Gulf integration and facilitating the exchange of expertise in the domains of investment, urban development, and tourism, thereby advancing shared regional objectives and contributing to the realization of sustainable development across the region.

Qatari Hajj Mission to depart for holy sites today: Awqaf

QNA Riyadh Qatar's Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs, announced on Thursday that the official delegation of the Qatari Hajj Mission will depart for the holy sites today, Friday, 25 Dhul-Qi'dah 1446 AH (May 23), as part of ongoing preparations to ensure comprehensive services and optimal conditions for Qatari pilgrims during this year's Hajj season. Director of the Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs and Deputy Head of the Qatari Hajj Mission Ali bin Sultan Al Misifri affirmed that all support units that preceded the official delegation to Saudi Arabia are working around the clock to establish a fully integrated service environment for Qatari pilgrims. The mission, he said, will operate from its headquarters in Al-Naseem district of Makkah, offering specialised and high-quality services through its various support units. These units are also coordinating closely with Qatari Hajj campaigns and the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia to ensure the highest level of care. The mission includes several specialised units: Religious Guidance and Fatwa, Medical Services, IT Systems, Communications and Support, Inspection and Oversight, Ritual Sites Services, Logistics, Coordination and Airport Affairs, and Public Relations and Media. These units operate in harmony to serve Qatari pilgrims throughout their spiritual journey - from arrival in Makkah to performing the rites in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah, and through to the completion of the pilgrimage. Al Misifri emphasised that ensuring full operational readiness before the arrival of the first groups of pilgrims is a top priority, adding that the mission implemented updated action plans and continuously reviews them to adapt to any developments, thereby ensuring the highest levels of efficiency and organisation. He also noted that the support units will oversee performance of Qatari Hajj campaigns and their adherence to approved standards regarding accommodation quality, comfort, care, and safety protocols. The mission's primary goal is to harness all available resources to ensure Qatari pilgrims perform their rituals in a safe, organised, and seamless manner, he said. The Qatari Hajj Mission offers a comprehensive range of services, including religious guidance and education, healthcare, technical and logistical support, and a dedicated Communications and Support Unit. This unit acts as a liaison between the mission's service departments and the pilgrims and their campaigns, operating around the clock to address inquiries and provide assistance on religious, medical, and logistical matters. All efforts by the Ministry of Awqaf and the Qatari Hajj Mission reflect the State's commitment to providing Qatari pilgrims with a safe and smooth Hajj experience, ensuring their comfort throughout their journey.
