Advisor to PM participates in Stockholm Forum for Peace and Development

QNA Stockholm Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, participated in a panel discussion on 'The changing geopolitical landscape and the future of mediation: A Nordic and Gulf perspective', at the Stockholm Peace and Development Forum. Sponsored by Sweden's Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA), the panel discussed the profound transformations in the international peace and security landscape under a multipolar world order, with the emergence of new mediation actors such as India, China, the Gulf states, and Turkiye, alongside traditional powers and international organisations. The panel addressed the growing trend toward fragmented ceasefire arrangements rather than comprehensive peace agreements, and the need to re-evaluate the role and tools of mediation. It also highlighted opportunities for cooperation between Nordic countries and Gulf states in exchanging expertise and enhancing adaptation to geopolitical changes, thus contributing to the effectiveness of peace efforts. In his remarks, Dr Al Ansari highlighted the State of Qatar's role as a trusted mediator in resolving conflicts and crises, discussing the successes of Qatari diplomacy in resolving a number of thorny issues and its remarkable contribution to enhancing security and stability at the regional and international levels. Dr Al Ansari pointed out that the success of Qatar's mediation in a number of issues is based on several key factors, including strategic engagement, tactical neutrality, long-term investment, commitment, and partnership.
