Woman sent to hospital following Central Park stabbing

A 27-year-old woman is in hospital after being stabbed in the Central Park area of Winnipeg, according to police.
Central district general patrol officers responded to the area near Qu'Appelle Avenue on June 26 after a woman was stabbed by an acquaintance over a verbal dispute.
The woman was transported to hospital in unstable condition which has since been upgraded to stable condition. She remains in hospital.
Police said the woman was approached around 7:15 p.m. while walking in Central Park and a verbal argument escalated. The suspect armed herself with a knife, where she 'repeatedly punched and stabbed the victim causing serious injuries.'
A 29-year-old woman was arrested nearby at 7:35 p.m. after fleeing the scene.
She was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and failing to comply with probation and release orders. She was charged with identity fraud after providing a false name to officers.
The woman is being held in police custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
