Quantum Capital Seeks $4.5 Billion for Oil-Patch Investments
Quantum Capital Group is seeking to raise $4.5 billion in investor commitments for its ninth flagship oil- and gas-focused fund less than a year after closing a predecessor. The private-equity firm is telling prospective investors that rising demand for energy, a shortage of capital and scant competition for deals makes this a good moment to bet on the sector.
The Houston-based firm has begun marketing Quantum Energy Partners IX on the heels of its previous fund and related co-investments, which wrapped up last year with a total $5.25 billion. As of last month, Quantum had committed about $4.63 billion of the prior fund's capital across more than 14 businesses, according to a firm presentation seen by The Wall Street Journal.
