South Bay Lakers recap: Quincy Olivari posts a triple-double in a win
The South Bay Lakers played their penultimate game of this season on Friday, and they faced the Iowa Wolves, a team that came into Friday with the worst regular-season record in the G League's Western Conference. Bronny James, who had 39 points on Monday against the Santa Cruz Warriors, didn't play on Friday, but South Bay's other guards still delivered under pressure. The Wolves got out to a 21-9 lead midway through the first quarter, but South Bay trimmed that deficit and ended the quarter down by just two points. It built a 12-point lead late in the third period, and although the Wolves fought back, it was able to hold them off for a 127-123 win. Undrafted rookie guard Quincy Olivari was the best player on the floor with a triple-double of 25 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, and he also blocked two shots. Fellow starting guard Grayson Murphy contributed 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting, 12 assists and seven rebounds, and forward Stanley Johnson added 19 points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block. South Bay Lakers recap: G League Lakers win their final home game of this season
South Bay Lakers recap: G League Lakers win their final home game of this season The South Bay Lakers played their final home game of this season at UCLA Health Training Center on Tuesday against the Santa Cruz Warriors, a team they defeated on Monday by a final score of 122-118. South Bay will not be heading to the G League playoffs, but it did end its home schedule on a high note. After giving up 76 points in the first half and trailing by as many as 18 points, South Bay charged back and ended the first half down by nine points. It then controlled the second half and won both the third and fourth quarters, and it came back from a 128-120 deficit with just 2:37 left in the game to notch a 134-130 victory. Quincy Olivari led the way on this night. The undrafted rookie guard had a nightmare performance on Monday by missing all but one of his 11 shot attempts, but on Tuesday, he went 9-of-17 overall to score 33 points while adding eight rebounds and eight assists. His 3-pointer with under a minute left tied the game at 130-all, and he secured the victory by making two free throws for South Bay's final points. Bronny James went 14-of-21 overall for 39 points on Monday, but unfortunately, he couldn't follow up that career-best effort with one that was at least respectable. He was just 5-of-18 from the field on Tuesday — however, he did go 5-of-12 from downtown while dishing off nine assists and adding two steals. He hit a key trey with 1:23 left to bring his team to within three points before Olivari knotted the score.

South Bay Lakers recap: Lakers lose despite Stanley Johnson's big game
After withstanding a 125-113 road loss to the San Diego Clippers on Saturday, the South Bay Lakers returned home to host the Austin Spurs at UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo, Calif. The Spurs came in with an 11-6 record, which was the second-best mark in the Western Conference, and they wasted little time proving they were superior to South Bay. They led 28-21 at the end of the first quarter and 57-41 at halftime, and while South Bay won the third quarter 25-18, it never really mounted a real threat. The Lakers ended up losing 109-102, dropping their regular-season record to 5-12, which puts them in second-to-last place in the West. Quincy Olivari, the undrafted rookie guard who has shown promise this season, couldn't throw a pea in the ocean. He went 3-of-16 from the field and 1-of-7 from 3-point range and scored just seven points, although he did contribute five assists. But Stanley Johnson, a 28-year-old who played with the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers three years ago, had an impressive showing in his first game since getting traded to South Bay. The 6-foot-6 wide-bodied forward went 10-of-22 overall and made half of his six 3-point attempts, giving him a team-high 26 points, to go along with four rebounds and three assists. Malachi Flynn, a guard who appeared in 14 games for the New York Knicks last season, led Austin with 26 points of his own.
