DA demands answers after top crime boss vanishes amid R45 million property scandal

Major-General Philani Lushaba, the Chief Financial Officer of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Intelligence unit, has allegedly vanished just as authorities were preparing to question him about his involvement in financial misconduct linked to properties valued at over R45 million. According to the Democratic Alliance (DA) member of Parliament, Dianne Kohler Barnard, Lushaba failed to report for duty on the morning of 6 June. Barnard said the alleged disappearance comes just as the National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) Investigating Directorate sought to question him, reportedly over a multi-million Rand property scandal. At the heart of the scandal, are two high-value acquisitions: a luxury boutique hotel in Pretoria North, purchased for R22.7 million, and a commercial property in Berea, Durban, acquired for R22.8 million.

Kaizer Chiefs star: Flop at club level, STAR for his country

Kaizer Chiefs are in the curious position where one of their peripheral players is a key operator for his country. Rwanda National Team manager Adel Amrouche has confirmed French interest in Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari. The 25-year-old was a regular in the Chiefs first team when he arrived, but inopportune injuries have pushed him down the pecking order. Ntwari, who came from TS Galaxy in July 2024, has only made seven appearances for Chiefs. 'There is a second division club from France; they also asked me about him,' Amrouche told FARPost . Despite his struggles at club level, Ntwari has been a regular for his country during World Cup qualifiers. Ironically, Ntwari's Rwanda are in Group C of qualifiers alongside South Africa. They're sitting relatively pretty with eight points after six outings. It's not out of the question that both nations could qualify for the 2026 showpiece staged in Mexico, Canada and the United States. 25-year-old Ntwari, who stands at 1.94m tall, has 12 caps for his nation and will look to build on that as we approach a World Cup year. 'I trust the coaches at Chiefs, and I hope between now and June, he's going to get his chance to play again because we need him for the rest of the qualifiers.' 'He was good. I thought the lack of game time would affect him, but he was good. You can see his teammates trust him, and I also trust him. I have a lot of confidence in him because of his qualities. He's also an incredible person to work with. He's a hard worker, and the players love him. People love him in Rwanda.' Since a move from Cape Town City in July 2023, Mduduzi Mdantsane has failed to make the grade at Kaizer Chiefs. In 16 appearances, he failed to score a single goal and spent large periods on the sidelines. At his peak value, transfermarkt estimates that Mduduzi Mdantsane was at his most desirable in the market in February 2023. They gauged him to be worth 1.2m (R22.8 million). Now, just under two years later, they figure he's worth half that (R11.4 million). Injuries have ravaged his time at Naturena, including an unfortunate one sustained in a car accident. However, when fit, his form hasn't been to the standard expected by Chiefs. A loan spell with Richards Bay in 2024-2025 has proved to be the final nail in his Amakhosi coffin. Kaizer Chiefs transfer rumours: Ntwari, Mdu, Vilakazi

Today's Kaizer Chiefs rumour roundup looks at the futures of Fiacre Ntwari, Mduduzi Mdantsane and Mfundo Vilakazi. The pair are suspended after an accumulation of bookings. Click for fixture news Pirates have kept clean sheets in seven of their last eight matches across all competitions. The only stain on that record was the Sundowns game, which they won 2-1 anyway. If anybody can breach this staunch defensive unit, however, it's Kaizer Chiefs target Fiston Mayele. The Pyramids FC man has an exemplary record in the Champions League, with six goals in 10 outings this term. Overall, he's scored 19 times in 34 appearances in Africa's premier club competition. Pyramids vs Pirates in the semi-final second leg kicks off on Friday, 25 April at 20:00. It's delicately poised after a 0-0 draw in the first encounter. Kaizer Chiefs transfers: Mayele's dreams, midfield flop sent packing

Today's Kaizer Chiefs news wrap looks at Mdu Mdantsane's doomed spell with the club and Fiston Mayele's latest ambitions. Wouldn't it be ironic if long-standing Kaizer Chiefs target Fiston Mayele dashed the Sea Robbers' continental dreams this season? ZERO goals in two years: Kaizer Chiefs flop sent packing

Goals aren't the only currency for attacking midfielders. However, at a club like Kaizer Chiefs, players are judged strictly. Since a move from Cape Town City in July 2023, Mduduzi Mdantsane has failed to make the grade at Kaizer Chiefs. In 16 appearances, he failed to score a single goal and spent large periods on the sidelines. At his peak value, transfermarkt estimates that Mduduzi Mdantsane was at his most desirable in the market in February 2023. They gauged him to be worth 1.2m (R22.8 million). What's next for Mdantsane? According to KickOff, Chiefs are looking at Kruger United striker Thapelo Matlhoko. 'He is one of the strikers they (Chiefs) are looking at. They are believed to have enquired about him, and they would like to have him as one of their players next season. The club is still looking at the possibility of signing different strikers to add to the team, and Thapelo (Matlhoko) is one of them,' said a source.
