Former Strasbourg defender Lucas Perrin on Auxerre shortlist

Lucas Perrin (26), who spent the second half of the season on loan at Cercle Brugge, is the subject of interest from AJ Auxerre, according to Mohamed Toubache-Ter. Perrin left RC Strasbourg Alsace last summer, with the Frenchman critical of the newly-instilled project at the BlueCo club. He was notably critical of the youth-centric aspect instilled by the new owners in Alsace. He therefore left the club on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract. Advertisement He joined Hamburg but did not feature prominently before joining Cercle Brugge, who share the same owner as AS Monaco. There, he has found gametime easier to come by, playing 15 games in all competitions with the Belgian side. However, Toubache-Ter understands that he could now be set for a return to France. Auxerre were one of the surprise packages in Ligue 1, earning a comfortable mid-table finish having been heavily tipped for relegation. Perrin, whose loan at Cercle does include a purchase option, is a name being considered by Christophe Pélissier's side. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Luis Enrique: "It's a very positive time for the players"

The Paris Saint-Germain manager answered questions from PSG TV and the media ahead of his side's game against RC Strasbourg Alsace, which kicks off at 17:00 CET tomorrow (Matchday 32 of Ligue 1) at the Stade de la Meinau. ON STRASBOURG 'It's always difficult to play away from home, especially against this kind of team. I think that we're getting motivated at the best possible time in the season and that everyone at Paris Saint-Germain is experiencing this as something special. I think that it's a very positive time for the players who can play on Saturday; we've shown that throughout the season. Advertisement 'In this type of game, small details can make the difference, and we're going to try to make that difference. Our end to the season is very unusual because we want to do well in tomorrow's game, which will be a test to help us be ready in the other competitions.' ON DÉSIRÉ DOUÉ AND BRADLEY BARCOLA 'Over the course of a season, it's important that the players improve and give a lot to the team. The players need to get better both individually and collectively. That improvement comes with ups and downs, and they're young players. It's not that Bradley isn't as good or that Désiré is better; the important thing for me is that they both be ready to help the team.' ON THE TEAM'S MOTIVATION 'Every minute of every game is important. That's what it's like when you play for Paris Saint-Germain. We'll do what we've done so far with the same idea as ever; nothing has changed. The most important thing is for every minute that the players spend playing for Paris Saint-Germain to be useful for our games in the other competitions.' ON THE LIGUE 1 FAMILY 'I think that 90% of Ligue 1 teams are a family. We spend a lot of time together, and we share both good and bad times. We [Paris] aren't really that different to the other teams in the league in terms of how we experience matches.' Valentín Barco a key piece in Strasbourg's success

RC Strasbourg Alsace have been one of the best Ligue 1 sides this year and a Premier League loanee is a big reason why. Just before the winter transfer window closed, the Alsace club signed Valentín Barco (20) on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion for the remainder of the season. His versatility as a wingback has taken Strasbourg to another level in 2025. Advertisement The Argentine has been a handful for opposing defences with his darting runs down the flank, winning 24 fouls for them in the league since his arrival. Barco has been exceptional for this team as Le Racing have never lost a league contest with him in the starting XI. He's won over 60% of his duels with a pass accuracy of over 80% (84.4), while collecting two assists. His skill with the ball and exquisite passing have made him a vital asset to Liam Rosenior's setup this year. Strasbourg are undefeated at home in the French top-flight this year, netting multiple goals in all but one of their league fixtures at Stade de la Meinau in 2025. Advertisement With 54 points after 31 league fixtures, Le Racing have their highest tally to this stage of a top-flight campaign in the last 40 years, and Barco has been a big reason they've piled up the points over the past few months. Heading into their matchup with Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday, Strasbourg are just below OGC Nice on goal difference for a place in Europe next season. Meanwhile, only two points currently separate them from a place in the top three, which comes with an automatic berth in the UEFA Champions League group phase next season. GFFN | Joel Lefevre

Liam Rosenior's Strasbourg among the best in Europe in 2025

From a side that had been a mainstay in the bottom half of Ligue 1 over the past few seasons, RC Strasbourg Alsace have come to life domestically this year. Coming into 2025, Liam Rosenior's men were 13th in the table, the same place they finished in the French top-flight a season ago under Patrick Vieira. Advertisement The new year, however, has breathed new hope into this squad as they've risen up the league table and been among the best clubs not only in France but also in Europe. The club from Alsace have picked up 54 points after 31 Ligue 1 affairs this season, their highest tally at this stage of the competition over the last 40 years. A 3-1 victory over AS Saint-Étienne on Saturday extended Le Racing's unbeaten streak to 11 matches domestically. This equals their longest run without a defeat in the French top-flight this century, dating back to February-April 2022 (11 matches). Their 1-0 defeat at Stade Rennais in February is the only time this year that Strasbourg have come away empty-handed from a league fixture, as Ludovic Blas (27) netted one minute before the 90. Only Barcelona and AS Roma have done better than Les Alsaciens among sides in the top five European leagues, with those two teams unbeaten domestically this year. Advertisement Strasbourg have found success through their youngsters who have stepped up with plenty of players 22 years of age or younger earning valuable minutes. Next Saturday, they can set a club record for the longest Ligue 1 unbeaten run this century and earn their first victory over Paris Saint-Germain since December 2017 (2-1). Their form has them in the hunt for a UEFA Champions League place with only two points currently separating them from the top three and an automatic berth in the group stage of that competition. They are only behind a spot in Europe on goal difference. GFFN | Joel Lefevre

Liam Rosenior set to extend Strasbourg contract amid Premier League interest

According to a report from The Athletic, Liam Rosenior has extended his contract as head coach of RC Strasbourg Alsace until 2028. The Englishman joined the Ligue 1 side during the summer after being released from Hull City. He arrived as an unknown quantity in France with little fanfare but has quickly cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting managers in the country. Advertisement His Strasbourg side are well-positioned to qualify for Europe this season and find themselves in seventh coming into the final four games of the season. It'll be a clear boon for the project in the East of France if they can keep hold of Rosenior. The Athletic writes that Rosenior has turned down multiple offers from Premier League clubs in order to continue with Strasbourg. Djordje Petrovic (25), who is on loan at Le Racing from sister club Chelsea, gave a glowing account of working under Rosenior to local media, telling Alsa Sports, 'I love working with him and hopefully, somehow, we can still collaborate in the future. Whether it's here or elsewhere in five years, I'd like it to be next season.' GFFN | Nick Hartland
