North Charleston officers participate in RECAP walk
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Officers with the North Charleston Police Department took part in a 'Rebuilding Every Community Around Peace' walk Tuesday night. The walk promotes security and safety within the city as officers interact with local community members to ensure the well-being of local neighborhoods. Initially, the walk started as a way to prevent gun violence, but the department revamped the event to include areas with all kinds of crime, according to Lt. Tireka Wright with the department. Peterborough City Council will sell Mooncups for £5
Women can buy a reusable period product at a discounted price as part of a council initiative to protect the environment. The Mooncup programme is being funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Waste Partnership (RECAP) and backed by Peterborough City reusable Mooncup contains no plastics or toxins and lasts for several years. The council said by switching to a reusable Mooncup, each person can avoid throwing away about 264 single-use menstrual products every local authority has subsidised the price to £5, compared to the normal shelf price of around £20, and said it wanted to enable residents to adopt more sustainable habits. Sustainable and cost-effective choices It is believed menstrual products add about 200,000 tonnes of waste to disposal sites in the UK Angus Ellis, Peterborough City Council's cabinet member for environment and transport, said: "We are fully committed to looking at different ways to help protect the environment, such as reducing the amount of waste which is sent for disposal."We're supporting the Mooncup scheme and will be promoting messages around the campaign on our social media channels over the coming weeks, so please look out for these."Bryony Rothwell, waste partnership manager at RECAP, stated: "This programme reflects our commitment to waste reduction.
