Bok bruiser Snyman named URC Players' Player of Season
RG Snyman has been rewarded for a wonderful campaign with Leinster by being named URC Players' Player of the Season. Springbok and Leinster bruiser RG Snyman was named the United Rugby Championship (URC) Players' Player of the Season, when the final two awards were announced on Friday. Snyman picked up the prestigious award, which is selected by his own peers, while the Coach of the Season award went to Zebre's Massimo Brunello. The awards came hot on the heels of Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu being named SA URC Player of the Season, while Cameron Hanekom was named Next-Gen Player of the Season, seven South Africans were named in the tournament's Elite XV, and Ruben van Heerden won the Tackle Machine award. Snyman has been a revelation this season for the URC table toppers after arriving from Munster in the off season, and his 'x-factor' has been lauded as a key reason for him picking up the award. The towering lock has helped his side to top of the table in the regular season, with his offload game in particular being pivotal to the Irish province. Unique skillset One fellow player applauded his 'unique skillset' – branding him a 'very tough' opponent, saying: '(He is) a threat all over the park. Strong in the set-piece and has a unique skillset which makes him very tough to play against.' The Players' Player of the Season award was voted on by the captains and vice-captains of all 16 teams, with all nominees required to have made a minimum of nine appearances over the pool phase. Previous winners of this award include Munster's Jack Crowley last season, Leinster's Dan Sheehan back in 2022/23, and Stormers forward Evan Roos in the inaugural URC campaign. On the coaching front Brunello transformed Zebre Parma this season, leading them to superb victories over Munster, Ospreys and Dragons at home, as well as famous away wins against Ulster and Edinburgh. Their away win against Ulster ended a four-year wait for a victory on the road, and was backed up the following week with another win away against Edinburgh. The Coach of the Season is voted for by the league's head coaches, with Brunello receiving the recognition from his peers. Previous winners of this award include Graham Rowntree last season, and Glasgow Warriors head coach Franco Smith back in 2022/23.

Four Irish named in URC's Elite XV
Four Irish players have been named in the BKT URC's Elite XV, while RG Snyman is also included in the championship's team of the season. In total, one third of the team is made up of players from the Irish provinces, with three from Munster and two from Leinster. Munster captain Tadhg Beirne was chosen alongside Snyman in the second row, with Beirne included in the Elite XV for the second year in a row. The Elite XV is determined by a media vote and players must have made at least nine appearances to be considered, with the media panel provided a shortlist of 10 per position by URC StatMaster. Jamie Osborne is the other Leinster player included, with the versatile back named at full-back, having also featured in both centre positions and on the wing. Craig Casey (below) was chosen at scrum-half, while Tom Farrell also made the selection, with the Munster centre enjoying career-best form in 2024/25, playing every game for Munster this season, scoring a joint-high nine tries and winning the URC's Playmaker award. In total, nine different teams were represented in the Elite XV. Bulls pair Jan-Hendrik Wessels and Wilco Louw were picked at prop, either side of Scarlets' hooker Marnus van der Merwe. Beirne and Snyman are at second row, while Jac Morgan of Ospreys and Rory Darge of Glasgow Warriors were picked at flanker. The back row is completed with Cameron Hanekom at number eight, with Hanekom also winning the URC's Next-Gen player of the season. Casey is joined in the half-backs by Stormers' out-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, with Andre Esterhuizen of the Sharks joining Farrell in midfield. With Osborne at full-back, Edinburgh's Darcy Grahan and Scarlets' Blair Murray complete the team on the wings. Time and TV channel info for Leinster-Glasgow URC tonight
Leinster will start both RG Snyman and Jordie Barrett against Glasgow tonight. The Blues have already topped the URC League but thee duo are surely worth the admission price alone! "The difference maybe from past seasons is having the week off next week," says Tyler Bleyendaal in reference to the 'stand down' for Champions/Challenge Cup final weekend. "It almost allows you to go stronger, I think there is a real balance around the selection but ultimately we know now we've got a match, a weekend off and then we're into play-offs. We want good continuity, we want strong performances now.' Where is the game on? At the Aviva Stadium, Dublin. What time is kick-off? The match kicks off at 7.35pm on Saturday. That's quite late in the set of Round 18 fixtures? Yes, it is last of the eight games to kick-off. Third-placed Glasgow will be aware of the earlier Bull vs Dragons result (kick-off Loftus Versfeld 2pm) and whether they have a chance of finishing second. One match point would be enough to guarantee Bulls second position. Also, fourth-placed Sharks kick-off against Scarlets at 6.30pm so that match will already be into the second-half by the time of the Dublin kick-off. A conspiracy theorist could suggest Glasgow might be able to make a decision at half-time as to whether they are better off finishing third or fourth on the basis of what happened in earlier games lower down the table? Far be it for me to say that... What TV channel is Leinster vs Glasgow on? It will be shown live on RTÉ, Premier Sports, SuperSport, Flo Rugby & Betting odds: Leinster to win 1/40, Glasgow to win 16/1, the draw is 50/1 - Paddy Power What Are Glasgow Saying? Head Coach Franco Smith: 'Leinster's strength in depth is well-known across Europe, and we know that they will pose a tough test with a vocal home crowd behind them. 'Our medical and S&C teams have been working closely with Sione (Tuipulotu) over the last few weeks in order to put him in the best possible position, and his enthusiasm for his return to action has been infectious. "We also look forward to seeing Jare (Oguntibeju) and Macenzzie (Duncan) run out tomorrow after impressing for our U23 squad last week, and we congratulate Seb (Stephen) on being named in a Glasgow Warriors matchday 23 for the first time. Each man has earned their opportunity to start this weekend and we know that they will all give everything for this team."
