Penn State forward Yanic Konan Niederhauser was among the top scrimmage performers on Sunday at the 2025 NBA G League Elite Camp in Chicago, Illinois. The annual scouting event features 5-on-5 games, strength and agility testing, shooting drills, measurements and other on-court exercises. The players compete to showcase their overall skill sets and ability in front of team executives, scouts and coaches at the Wintrust Arena. A select number of the top standouts will be invited to the draft combine, set to follow the G League Elite Camp this week. Rookie Wire looked at five prospects with notable performances on Sunday. The group projects to have a strong chance to continue its stay in the Windy City. R.J. Davis, North Carolina Davis wrapped up the G League Elite Camp with 13 points, five assists, three rebounds and one steal in the second scrimmage game on Sunday. He went 5-of-10 from the field, including two 3-pointers, and was a plus-15 in 20 minutes on the court. Advertisement The former ACC Player of the Year displayed his traits as a high-level playmaker and initiator on offense, while dropping in some timely shots for his team. He was one of the top guards at the competition and likely did enough to advance to the combine. Mackenzie Mgbako, Indiana Mgbako finished off the G League Elite Camp with another tremendous showing, recording a game-high 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists. He went 4-of-8 from 3-point range and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line in 24 minutes in a 101-98 win. The 6-foot-8 standout played some of his best basketball in Chicago after scoring 19 points and four rebounds on Saturday. As a result, he'll likely earn a call-up to the combine and have the chance to continue to make a name for himself. Yanic Konan Niederhauser, Penn State Niederhauser continued a strong showing at the G League Elite Camp on Sunday, producing 14 points, eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot. He went a perfect 6-of-6 from the field in nearly 22 minutes of action in a 101-98 loss. Advertisement The effort followed a 17-point, four-rebound performance on Saturday. Lachlan Olbrich, Illawarra Hawks (NBL) Olbrich registered a double-double on Sunday, finishing with 16 points, 10 rebounds, one assist and one steal in a loss. He once again showed off his ability to do the dirty work and crash the glass at a high level, while scoring inside the paint. The 6-foot-11 Australian was a plus-34 in 42 total minutes on the court in Chicago. He likely did enough to earn an invitation to the combine and continue showcasing his game against some of the top prospects in the draft this year. John Poulakidas, Yale Poulakidas produced a game-high 16 points, one rebound, one assist and one steal in the second scrimmage game on Sunday. He finished by shooting 6-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, in 20 minutes off the bench in a 92-73 win. 2024-2025 UNC basketball starter receives NBA Draft Combine Invite

Though he didn't leave UNC with a championship in his back pocket, Drake Powell lived out a childhood dream by playing for the team he grew up cheering for. Powell, a freshman who played his high school basketball at Northwood High School in Pittsboro, North Carolina, committed to the Tar Heels and quickly became an integral part to their success. UNC typically put Powell on the opposition's leading scorer, which paid off in the form of chase down blocks, steals or not allowing room to drive for easy layups. Advertisement Powell also proved to pack a decent scoring punch, averaging 7.4 points per game across 37 appearances (24 starts), for North Carolina during its 2024-2025 season. Standing at 6'6" and also shooting nearly 40 percent from the perimeter, Powell's game will translate well to the NBA. Speaking of professional basketball, Powell recently received some good news, earning an invitation to the NBA Draft Combine from May 11-18 in Chicago. Powell's invite comes roughly two weeks after he declared for the NBA Draft. Though Powell is leaving the option open to a UNC return, a strong showing at The Combine will keep him in the Draft Pool. Advertisement RJ Davis is out of college eligibility, but you might be shocked to not see his name on the above list. The 2023-2024 ACC Player of the Year averaged 15.6 points per game over his 5-year career, including a career-best 21.2 during that same campaign. Selfishly, I hope Powell returns to the Tar Heels, who have a spot to fill at small forward once again. Powell proved that his game is NBA-ready after just one season in Chapel Hill, though, so I wish him well in whatever decision he makes. UNC basketball star earns opportunity to continue professional basketball career

Despite being one of the older college players hoping to hear his name called in June's 2025 NBA Draft, RJ Davis proved – in five years at UNC – that he is capable of playing professional basketball at a high level. RJ blossomed over the course of his 5-year career as a Tar Heel, capped off by his 2024 ACC Player of the Year award, in which he averaged a career-high 21.2 points per game. After only starting 10 of North Carolina's 29 games his freshman season (2020-2021), RJ started every game for the next four years. Advertisement Though RJ may not make his way onto a roster via the NBA Draft, he has a great, upcoming opportunity to showcase his talents and land on a team. On Sunday, May 4, RJ earned an invite to the NBA G League Elite Camp from May 9-11. Via Keeping It Heel's Nick Delahanty, the official G League website defines this camp as, "a two-day event that gives NBA Draft prospects an opportunity to showcase their skills – in front of NBA and NBA G League scouts, coaches and front-office executives." If RJ performs well enough at the G League Camp, he'll receive an invitation to the succeeding NBA Draft Combine. How amazing would that be? Advertisement We know that RJ can score the basketball and run an offense, but the NBA is gold standard for professional basketball around the world, proving to be tougher than the college game. Luckily for RJ, he played five years in the ACC – despite another down year for the conference in 2024-2025, RJ faced some of the best competition in college basketball. Which NBA teams do you think would be the best fit for RJ? I'd love to see him don a Charlotte Hornets uniform, but Michael Jordan is no longer the team's owner.
