MACC seizes RM31.4bil in assets in 5-year corruption crackdown

KAJANG: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has seized and forfeited assets worth more than RM31.41 billion over the past five years. Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said that between 2020 and April this year, the commission seized RM3.54 billion in assets and forfeited a further RM27.87 billion. He also said that the MACC received 34,819 reports during the same period, resulting in over 5,000 investigations and nearly 6,000 arrests. Of those arrested, 2,479 individuals were prosecuted, with 1,274 securing convictions in court.
