Horse racing tips: Friday April 25
There are seven horse racing meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland today, with two of them having selected contests televised on ITV1. You can watch top action from the Flat season opener at Sandown (1.15-4.45pm), along with jumps races at Perth (1.32-5.00). The other cards are at Limerick (1.42-5.40), Doncaster (1.58-5.20), Kilbeggan (4.20-7.25), Chepstow (4.30-8.05) and Fontwell (5.15-7.47). Our nap of the day comes from the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown (2.25pm), where we are backing Royal Champion. Dan Fitch's selection: Odds provided by Betfair and correct at the time of writing. Since switching to trainer Karl Burke in December, the gelding is unbeaten, with wins in a Listed race at Lingfield and the Winter Derby Stakes at Southwell. This followed an ill-fated spell earlier in 2024 when he was running in Australia under the tutelage of Anthony and Sam Freedman. Before that move, Royal Champion had looked progressive as a charge of Roger Varian, winning at Newmarket on debut and also enjoying victories at Epsom, Ayr and Royal Ascot.
