Yemen native gets simple imprisonment for watching child porn
Thiruvananthapuram: Fast track special court judge R Rekha on Saturday sentenced a Yemen national to simple imprisonment till the rising of the court and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for watching pornographic videos involving children. Accused Abdulla Ali Abdo Al-Hadad was working at a hotel in Vanchiyoor. The city cyber cell received information on Dec 27, 2020, that he was watching pornographic videos of children on his phone. Police soon took him into custody, but they could not retrieve the videos. In the absence of evidence, the FIR was quashed and the accused was freed. However, the police sent his mobile phone for forensic examination and it was found that the videos were deleted. The forensic team retrieved the deleted videos and a case was registered again. The ages of the children in the videos were scientifically proved by the probe team and the court found him guilty of the charges filed against him. Man sentenced to 64 years rigorous imprisonment and Rs 30,000 fine for assaulting minor relative
Thiruvananthapuram: A fast track special court on Wednesday sentenced a 45-year-old man to 64 years of rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old default of the payment, the accused shall undergo an additional jail term of eight more years, added Judge R Rekha in her incident happened in 2019 when the girl went to her uncle's house for his funeral. While the funeral ceremonies were taking place, the girl was sitting upstairs alone and the culprit, who is a relative, sexually assaulted her. He also threatened the girl not to disclose the incident to the girl only informed her grandmother that the culprit hugged her and did not reveal more details of the assault. Following this, the grandmother scolded the accused and slapped two years after that, the girl disclosed the incident during a counselling session at school. Soon the school authorities alerted the childline and police. Valiyathura police recorded the girl's statement and registered a court observed that the man does not deserve any mercy as such an act from a relative is unwelcoming and a lenient sentence will motivate such crimes in the behalf of the prosecution, special public prosecutor RS Vijay Mohan and advocate Nivya Robin appeared before the court. Man sentenced to 47 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting minor with Down syndrome
Thiruvananthapuram: The fast-track court on Friday sentenced a 41-year-old man to 47 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a 16-year-old girl with Down syndrome . Judge R Rekha also imposed Rs 25,000 fine on the convict, who is also a close relative of the survivor. The judgment also stated that failure to pay the fine will result in an additional eight months of imprisonment. The incident happened on Sep 25, 2020, when the girl was alone at home. The girl's elder sister, who arrived there and witnessed the crime, hit the man with a stick lying nearby and chased him away. The survivor also sustained serious injuries in the assault. She later disclosed that she was assaulted by the man on two previous occasions as well. In her judgment, the judge also stated that the crime was particularly heinous as it targeted a child with disabilities and that the accused showed no mercy. "Such an act deserves no leniency," she observed while pronouncing the sentence. Court sentences school matron to 18 years in jail for sexual assault under Pocso Act
Thiruvananthapuram: A fast-track special court has sentenced a school matron to 18 years of rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy with speech and hearing disabilities. Judge R Rekha pronounced in her verdict that in default of the payment, the accused identified by police as Jeen Jackson, shall undergo an additional rigorous imprisonment of six more months. The incident reportedly happened on Sept 5, 2019. According to the prosecution, Jackson assaulted the boy who was studying in sixth standard at the school hostel. The incident was witnessed by another student, who also has similar disabilities. The matron who noticed the other student conveying the incident to his friend threatened him. This was noticed by other students and the news spread rapidly in the hostel. The court observed that such an act cannot be accepted from a person who was supposed to protect the children and the accused deserves no mercy.
