Red sander logs worth Rs 40L seized, five held

Tirupati: The RSASTF (Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force) on Friday seized 34 red sanders logs and two motorcycles in Palakondalu reserve forest area of Kadapa district. On the directions of Task Force head L Subbarayudu and under the supervision of Task Force SP P Srinivas and instructions of DSP Bali Reddy Task Force team of RI Krupanand, RSI Ali Basha team took up combing near the Annasamudram forest area. When the Police team reached the Palakondalu forest section they identified suspiciously some people. On seeing the task force team, they tried to escape but police personnel had nabbed them. In the subsequent search of near places task force personnel identified 34 red sanders logs worth Rs 40 lakhs and two motorcycles. The arrested are from Annamaiah and Kadapa districts. A case has been registered by SI Rafi and investigation is on.

PD Act slapped on red sanders smuggler from Tamil Nadu

The Tirupati district administration slapped the Preventive Detention Act (PD Act) on red sanders smuggler Ajith alias Ajith Babu (22) of Tamil Nadu. The Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF), headed by L. Subbarayudu, has been fighting to prevent smugglers from entering the Seshachalam forest, and the sleuths led by the Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Srinivas are determined on tightening the noose against the proclaimed offenders and getting the cases to a logical end. Ajith was found to be involved in several instances of smuggling and his name mentioned in more than 10 cases pertaining to violation of the Wildlife Act. Based on the recommendation made by RSASTF, Collector S. Venkateswar issued orders to nab him. Following the arrest, Ajith was immediately shifted to Kadapa Central Prison.

Tirupati: RSASTF (Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force) seized 72 red sanders worth Rs 2.5 crore in Srikalahasti forest area. With a tip-off, taskforce police combed near Katuru forest area, Dommarapalrm on Monday. A car and a lorry which was approaching suddenly stopped on seeing the taskforce checking vehicles. The accused abandoned their vehicle on seeing the taskforce personnel. However, the taskforce detained them after a hot chase. In the subsequent search of the lorry which was left behind by the smugglers lead to the recovery of a huge quantity of 72 red sanders logs. Police arrested 4 from Tirupati district and 3 from Tamilnadu. A case is registered by DSPs Srinivasulu Reddy and Sharif and investigation is going on.

Vijayawada: The Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) seized 72 red sanders logs valued at approximately Rs 2.5 crore in the forest area of Srikalahasti in Tirupati district . Along with the seizure, seven smugglers were arrested, and a lorry and a car used for transportation were taken into custody. The operation was launched after careful surveillance of entry and exit points in the forest area, particularly focusing on the Kaatur forest beat near the Dommarapalle area along the Panguru main road. On Monday morning, the Task Force team noticed a suspicious car followed closely by a lorry parked a short distance apart. As the officers approached, the occupants attempted to flee. However, the alert team swiftly surrounded and detained them. Upon inspection, the lorry was found to be loaded with 72 red sanders logs, which were immediately seized. Preliminary estimates suggest the seized red sanders logs are worth around Rs 2.5 crore. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that four of the arrested smugglers hail from Tirupati, while the remaining three are residents of Tamil Nadu. DSPs V Srinivasulu Reddy and Shareef conducted initial interrogations, and a case was registered and investigation is ongoing.
