Furious WWE fans 'hijack' major Raw matches after heartbreaking cuts

WWE fans are livid after R-Truth revealed his contract is not been renewed, and they made their voices heard on Raw. During this week's episode of Monday Night Raw on Netflix, several chants broke out in support of the beloved 53-year-old legend, who debuted for the company in 1999 and returned in 2008 for a second stint lasting 17 years. As well as an opening promo involving Sami Zayn and CM Punk, 'We want Truth' chants were also heard during Kairi Sane's win over Raquel Rodriguez, and Stephania Vaquer's match with Ivy Nile and Liv Morgan. The R-Truth chants continued during the main event, which saw El Grande Americano score a surprise upset win over Punk and AJ Styles after interference from Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. Another fan was seen holding up a sign which read: 'Re-sign R-Truth or we riot.' Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. While plenty of viewers were glad to hear people supporting Truth, many others felt bad for the performers in the ring. 'Those R Truth chants rang loud n clear tonight on #WWERaw,' raved @SOAismyReligion, while fellow X user @_MichaelSerna added: 'We want Truth chants all night make me happy. R-Truth forever and ever.' However, @CadillacCarson said: 'Dang, these fans are hijacking the Raquel Kairi match with 'we want R truth' chants, feel bad for the women in the match, they don't deserve that.' And another fan, @JojoSchmitty, made a similar pointed during the main event. They tweeted: 'I love Ron Killings but We Want Truth chants when these three are doing there thing is is CRAZY. Bad enough when they were doing it to Kairi/Raquel earlier.' Someone else argued that the crowd found the right balance by still reacting to the action in the ring. X user @AfterthoughtG wrote: 'The show was great and while fans did chant for R Truth, they immediately followed it up with chants for the match that was going on so it wasn't as disrespectful as others have claimed it was.' R-Truth confirmed the shock news of his WWE exit in an emotional statement on Sunday, just one week after he faced John Cena in a featured match at Saturday Night's Main Event. He wrote on X: 'Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. 'I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you🙏🏾' He isn't the only veteran to be let go, as fellow Raw star Carlito – whose absence was also noted last night – announcing his own departure on social media. Taking to X, Carlito wrote: 'My contract is up in 2 weeks. It will not be renewed.' More Trending In a lighthearted statement, the former United States Champion quipped: 'On top of that, WWE is demanding I pay back the $ they paid me for apparently 'stealing money' from the company. 'I've had my lawyers look into it and after reviewing my footage on Netflix for the past months they suggested I pay them back the money 😳 'All jokes aside, gracias WWE & especially the WWE universe. Los quiero mucho! PS…I'll reappear again in another 13yrs Dios me los bendiga!' View More » Netflix is the home of WWE in the UK. Got a story? Perhaps his most unique legacy will be his unparalleled dominance in the 24/7 Championship scene, where he holds the record for the most reigns (over 50 times). His segments chasing or defending this title often provided some of the most reliably entertaining and humorous content on WWE programming. Despite often being in comedic roles, R-Truth consistently performed impressive roles whenever asked. He even had a surprising victory in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 40 in 2024. His ability to remain a popular and beloved figure for so long is a testament to his talent and connection with WWE fans, making his expected exit a notable one. It will be interesting to see what's next for him, but he won't have any issue with finding work in the next chapter of his career. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

WRESTLING legend Ron Killings - best known as R-Truth - has been released by the WWE in an unexpected move. The 53-year-old confirmed on Sunday he has left the organization after 17 years. 2 Killings, known by his stage name R-Truth since 2008, began his wrestling journey at the turn of the century. He became a huge fan favorite in the WWE after joining from Total Nonstop Action, headlining multiple PPV events in the 2010s. But fans were devastated after the Charlotte native revealed he had been let go in "devastating" cuts. "I'm sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE," Killings wrote on X. "I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride. "Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you." The post was quickly viewed almost 18 million times. Devastated wrestling fans called for the decision to be reversed, with current WWE stars also weighing in. "I hate this so much," replied ex-WWE Diva Naomi. "In all seriousness, this is literally so heartbreaking… Thank you Truth," added Rhea Ripley. WWE star Cathy Kelley turns head in 'mind blowing' bikini and stuns in latest outfit "You're an amazing talent and an even better person. Go enjoy your life unc!" added AEW star Ricochet. "Thank you R-Truth. Your character can never be imitated," said wrestling legend CM Punk. "Embarrassing how they treat a legend," raged one fan. "This is the worse news I've ever heard. WWE's R-Truth Decision on Sunday Is Turning Heads

WWE's R-Truth Decision on Sunday Is Turning Heads originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The WWE has released veteran superstar R-Truth, and wrestling fans are unhappy. Truth, also known as Ron Killings outside the squared circle, is one of the company's oldest wrestlers at 53. In a post on X from Sunday, he thanked the promotion and its fans, who adored his character after spending 17 years with them. Advertisement 'I'm sorry to inform you all,' Killings wrote. 'I just got released from WWE." He continued, 'I want to thank WWE for the ride, but mostly, I want to thank each and every one of you who was along for the ride. Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you.' Following the announcement, fans and fellow wrestling personalities took to social media to express their frustration. 'I normally don't get crazy about wrestlers getting released, but R Truth,' one posted on X. 'I love (Ron Killings),' Monday Night Raw commentator and podcaster Pat McAfee wrote. 'It's guaranteed joy when he's a part of a segment. He's also my dad's favorite WWE superstar of all time. Advertisement He continued, 'The McAfees are bummed but we all know R Truth will continue to bless the world with his big brain. Thank you Truth.' 'Woke up to people saying R truth got released,' another shared. 'R-Truth has been released by WWE,' one fan worte. 'TKO count your days.' 'No way I wake up and the first thing I see is that R-Truth has been released,' another fan posted. Fans of Killings are outraged because he is considered a fan-favorite superstar due to his hilarious and sometimes delusional character. He has never won a world championship but captured the United States title twice in 2010 and 2019. Advertisement Killings is also the most famous 24/7 champion because he won the belt 53 times during its lifetime from 2019-2022. He also teamed with fellow veteran wrestlers the Miz and Kofi Kingston to win the Tag Team Championships in 2012 and 2024. It is unclear if Killings plans to continue his wrestling career following the departure, but he could sign with rival promotion AEW to continue to amuse fans.
