More than 1,300 police officers and personnel deployed for Lima '25
LANGKAWI: More than 1,300 officers and personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police will be on duty throughout the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (Lima '25), which will take place from May 20 to 24.
Langkawi police chief, Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari, said the deployment is to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow during the biennial exhibition.
"Personnel will primarily be stationed to maintain security at the two main exhibition venues, the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) for the aerospace segment and Resorts World Langkawi (RWL) for the maritime segment.
"Security will also be reinforced at VIP accommodation sites, official functions, radar monitoring points, crime prevention patrol areas, high-traffic public locations, and traffic control zones," he said in a statement today.
Shariman added that the police have also established a crisis and disaster response team to ensure that the 17th edition of Lima proceeds without any untoward incidents.
"To ease traffic flow, Jalan Lima, located in front of Langkawi International Airport (LIA) and MIEC, and Jalan Teluk Baru will be designated as one-way routes from 7am to 6pm throughout the event.
"Visitors heading to MIEC are encouraged to use the official e-hailing service. Those driving their own vehicles are advised to use Jalan Kuala Muda towards the Police Training Centre (Pulapol)," he said.
He added that shuttle buses will be available to assist visitors who have to park further away from the exhibition hall.
"Designated parking areas include the area in front of Pulapol, Jalan Kuala Muda (opposite Bella Vista Express), and opposite LTAL.
"For those attending the maritime segment, available parking is located at RWL and along Jalan Teluk Baru," he said.
Shariman urged the public to drive responsibly and avoid indiscriminate parking that could obstruct traffic and cause severe congestion along key routes.
"The public is advised to follow the instructions of on-duty officers. Road users are strictly prohibited from parking along the roadside, as this will obstruct traffic flow," he added.
