Thousands expected for Hamvention this weekend in Greene County
Tens of thousands will be in the Miami Valley for the largest amateur radio event in the world this weekend. Organizers said almost 36,000 people filled the Greene County Fairgrounds last year. As previously reported by News Center 7, the Greene County Sheriff's Office has released a traffic alert for drivers. 'Traffic will be extremely heavy in the area of the fairgrounds,' the sheriff's office wrote on social media. 'If possible, seek an alternative route.' This year's theme is 'Radio Independence,' according to its website. DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — There are two local festivals running for three days this weekend, Spring Fest in the Burg (Miamisburg) and Hamvention in Xenia. 2 NEWS has compiled a list of events happening around the Miami Valley. National Bike to Work Day Breakfast – 7 a.m., RiverScape MetroPark. Enjoy delicious food and see cycling-related exhibitors. Learn more. Hamvention 2025 – 9 a.m., Greene County Fair and Expo Center. Themed around Radio Independence, this year's massive amateur radio fest will celebrate ham culture and history. Learn more. Spring Fest in the Burg – 5 p.m., Riverfront Park. Enjoy carnival attractions, games, live music, delicious food, a maker's market and more. Learn more. NATO summit has blood center seeking more donors, just in case Take Kids Fishing Day – 9:30 a.m, Lakeside Lake. The first 150 kids in attendance will receive a free fishing rod. Learn more. 'When I See Me' Book Fair – 10 a.m., Roosevelt Elementary School. Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) authors will be available for kids to meet and greet with.
