Indeed, they're positioning the new flagship P7 as a showcase for how AI can redefine the luxury car experience. Details at this stage are scarce, but the previous P7 was described as "the world's first AI-defined vehicle' and included highly advanced autonomous driving functions, as well as a 'smart cockpit' that included a Knight Rider-style voice assistant. The next-gen model is expected to build on this, as well as introduce even more advanced capabilities. Advertisement Their ultimate aim is to stand out in China's increasingly crowded luxury saloon market - with the likes of the Avatr 12, Nio ET9 and Luxeed S7 all hoping to be big sellers. Regarding the upcoming P7's new styling, Xpeng's Exterior Design Director Rafik Ferrag told Autocar: "With this new generation, we set out to design a pure-electric sports sedan that could amaze at every angle. 'This car is our dream – refined through countless iterations. 'In my eyes, the all-new Xpeng P7 is a work of art, shaped with emotion and purpose.' For now, the Porsche Taycan remains the industry leader when it comes to luxury, performance all-electric saloons. Inside Taycan Turbo GT Porsche that can hit 200mph as SunSport's Isabelle Barker is taken for a spin by Formula E safety car driver While sales have dipped in recent times, the Taycan remains a highly sought-after electric sports car ahead of the likes of the Lucid Air, Tesla Model S, BMW i4, and Audi e-tron GT. One other Chinese brand that's got Porsche in its sights is Denza - headed by motoring giant BYD. Advertisement The ever-expanding car brand is one of the largest private companies in China and has already started to make waves globally - including in the UK. But for those seeking something with more speed and luxury, their sister brand Denza and their first car in its line-up – the stunning Z9 GT - might appeal. Clearly borrowing design cues from the Taycan and Panamera, the grand tourer - with its shooting brake estate styling - was unveiled at the recent Milan Design Week ahead of its European market release later this year.

XPeng P7 Electric Sports Sedan Unveiled; Gets AI Driving Modes
XPeng Motors has launched the latest version of its P7 electric sports sedan, which combines design with artificial intelligence. This new model features a sleek rear, a minimalist exterior, and an AI-driven driving mode, making it a strong competitor in the electric vehicle market. Designed by Rafik Ferrag, creator of the original 2018 P7, the new model has a smooth shape with a noticeable rear and front. The reflective steel-like color gives it a bullet-shaped look that blends in with its surroundings. While the P7 seats five passengers, its cabin is slightly smaller than the P7+ variant, prioritizing sporty style over family space. Xpeng has designed the P7 electric sedan with a focus on classic simplicity rather than retro elements. Launched in 2020, it has received a five-star safety rating in both C-NCAP and Euro NCAP tests. Is that a Lamborghini? No, its the new XPeng P7
The XPeng P7 – a rival for the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6 – has been radically updated as a 'high-tech and AI-driven smart electric vehicle', according to the brand. No technical information has been revealed, though XPeng says the car will be available in its home Chinese market before the end of the year. Advertisement - Article continues below To the front, the old car's design has been sharpened with a slimmer full-width lightbar and more acute angles. The original P7's curvaceous body gets a more pointed look, with the sloping roofline continuing in an unbroken line all the way to the rear deck. That sharp design continues at the back end with a jagged, Lamborghini-like bumper. Lead Exterior Designer Rafik Ferrag said: 'The original P7 was a milestone for XPeng and a turning point in China's EV landscape. With this new generation, we set out to design a pure electric sports sedan that could amaze at every angle.' We've not yet been given a glimpse inside, but XPeng calls the P7 an 'athletic five-seater coupe sedan' with an 'immersive smart cockpit'. The company says the car blends 'AI-powered luxury' with its latest autonomous driving technology; the ambition is that the new model will '[lead] the charge into a new generation powered by AI, innovation, and ambition'. While more details on the P7's technical make-up will be revealed later, it's all but guaranteed to build on its predecessor's 83kWh battery and 350-odd-mile range. Expect the new model to move onto the company's latest 800-volt electrical architecture too, bringing with it greater efficiency and faster charge speeds. Currently, the only XPeng sold in the UK is the G6 SUV – a Tesla Model Y and Audi Q4 e-tron alternative priced from around £40,000. The X9 MPV has also been confirmed for British sales, but it's not yet clear whether the P7 will be brought here. Click here for our list of the best electric cars ...
