Carroll girls claim first WCAC outdoor track title; McNamara wins boys' competition
There has never been a crisis of identity for the Archbishop Carroll track and field team. In short-distance track events, few programs in the area can match the Lions' prowess.
'We are who we are,' Coach Rafiu Bakare said. 'We are a sprint power.'
That reputation has been forged through results, including state and even national championships. But a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title remained elusive. The program has produced a parade of dynamic sprinters, but winning a team championship requires a well-rounded performance in all events.
