It can be an adjustment when a newcomer is added to the family. Whether it's a baby, a relative, or a pet, things change when someone new comes to live in your home.
While dogs are considered pack animals and bond in groups, cats tend to be more independent. They don't socialize the way canines do and may gravitate toward solitude. Yet some felines find comfort in having siblings around and slowly accept them into the fold.
This gray and black Maine Coon cat took some time to get to know his new brother Kenzo, a Ragdoll kitten. Before he knew it, they were besties.
In the TikTok from @xikp782, the onscreen text explained the scene: "Maine Coon meeting his new Ragdoll brother."
The Maine Coon cat approached the sleeping kitty and greeted him with tender kisses. The following segments showed the two brothers bonding as they cuddled, chilled out, and played some games. The two cats clearly had a connection.
Still, there are some issues to be worked out. Apparently, Kenzo gets some tasty meals that his brother has his eye on.
"I've been loving Kenzo!" the caption shared in the voice of the Maine Coon. "I especially love his food. I have decided I am no longer eating my own, Kenzo's food tastes way better. He gets to eat kibble! Why has Meowmy been holding out on me? She said he won't be eating that forever though. I come into Kenzo's room and go straight to his bowl."Despite a few wrinkles that need to be ironed out, the cat siblings have formed a solid friendship. Felines that live under the same roof sometimes just peacefully coexist, where they are friendly roommates but don't strive to spend time together. Then there are those like these two brothers that seem to have a geniune bond.
Cats who are open to being true companions exhibit some friendly behaviors, also called affiliative behaviors, including:
Mutual grooming
Rubbing against each other
Touching noses
Actively seeking out being with each other
Approaching each other with their tails up
Sleeping touching each other
By the looks of it, Kenzo has a BFF in his big brother!
