A sudden and dramatic weather shift hit Delhi-NCR late on Wednesday evening, as the region was battered by a hailstorm, heavy rain, and strong winds—just hours after enduring a hot and humid day.
The capital experienced a dust storm, followed by intense rain and hail, causing widespread disruption and leading many to take to social media to share visuals of the chaos.
Videos circulating online show dust clouds sweeping through streets, and hail pelting down on cars and rooftops.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), wind speeds in some parts of Delhi and surrounding areas reached 60–70 km/h, while Palam recorded gusts of up to 40 knots (around 72 km/h). The dust storm significantly reduced visibility in several parts of the city, affecting traffic and causing brief power cuts in some areas.
From Heatwave To Hailstorm In Hours
Earlier in the day, residents of Delhi battled extreme heat, with the heat index—also known as the 'feels like" temperature—reaching a scorching 50.2°C, due to high humidity combined with intense sunshine.
