South Carolina Gamecocks Key to the Season
Stop Carolina turned it over four times, with three lost fumbles, in the 27-25 loss to Alabama. It dropped a tight 36-33 fight with LSU thanks to 13 penalties, three turnovers, and two lost the team was 7-0 in the regular season when it didn't turn it over multiple times, and 2-3 when it did. The 14 lost fumbles were spread out - the wins over Kentucky and Oklahoma were the only games they didn't lose one.

Josiah Thompson, OT true sophomore has the upside to be fantastic. There's real NFL upside if he adds a little more bulk to his 6-7, 300-pound frame, and he's just scratching the surface of what he can become as a potential star at left tackle. But first, he and the rest of the Gamecock line have to be far better in pass protection and keeping defenses out of the backfield.

Top Transfer In: Rahsul Faison, RB all is right with the NCAA and his move, he's a quick back who can catch. He wasn't a workhorse at Utah State, but he pounded out over 1,100 yards last year and eight scores, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. He might not bring the power, but he'll always get positive Transfer Out: Bangally Kamara, LB Gamecocks won the transfer portal. They didn't lose anyone who'll be all that devastating to the cause, but Kamara is a speed rusher who just who was just getting started at Pitt over his four years, was only able to play a few games for the Gamecocks, and now is off to be a key part of the Missouri defensive front.

at Missouri, Sept. 20The Alabama game is massive, the trip to LSU is huge, and going to Texas A&M and Ole Miss will be nasty. Those all become far bigger if the Gamecocks can't leave that other Columbia with a win. We know how this you go 10-2 in the SEC, you go to the College Football Playoff. 9-3 might get you in the waiting room, but for a South Carolina team that was a few lost fumbles against LSU and Alabama away from making it, it might not be that far no Georgia, Tennessee, or Texas on the slate, so the SEC's three CFP teams from last year aren't in the picture.
