Bruce Springsteen Reaches A New Career Peak — With Some Help From The Killers

Bruce Springsteen earns his highest rankings ever on several U.K. charts with Encore at the Garden, ... More a Record Store Day release with The Killers. OAKLAND, UNITED STATES - SEPTEMBER 19: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band performing at the Oakland Coliseum on the Born in the U.S.A. tour on September 19 1985 (Photo by Clayton Call/Redferns) Bruce Springsteen is back on the charts in the United Kingdom, and he's not alone. Just a week after the music legend earned a modest sales hit across the pond with 'Rain in the River,' he returns with a new collaboration that outperforms its predecessor. The track may not be a traditional single, but it qualifies as such in the U.K., and thanks to that classification, Springsteen reaches new career highs on several tallies. Springsteen's latest charting success is Encore at the Garden, a short release created in tandem with The Killers. The project is being counted as a single in the U.K., even though it is really more of an EP. Encore at the Garden debuts at No. 3 on three different tallies: the Official Singles Sales, Official Physical Singles chart, and Official Vinyl Singles charts. The collection opens as one of the top-selling 'tracks' in the nation, even though the project features several tunes. Encore at the Garden marks a very special milestone for Springsteen. The release gives the legendary rocker his first top 10 hit on the Official Singles Sales chart. Before this week, the highest he'd climbed on that list came in 2022, when 'Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)' peaked at No. 20. Only two other tracks from Springsteen have entered the top 40 on the Official Singles Sales chart. 'Hello Sunshine' reached No. 32, while 'Ghosts' landed one rung lower at No. 33. On the Official Vinyl Singles chart, Encore at the Garden also earns Springsteen a new personal best. The release lands at No. 3, marking his loftiest placement to date. It's not his first time entering the top 10 on that wax-specific ranking, but the project is now his highest-charting effort. Springsteen previously broke into the top 10 with 'Western Stars,' which galloped to No. 5, giving him an early win on the format. His beloved rendition of 'Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town' also reached the list, but so far, it has only made it as high as No. 11. Encore at the Garden was a Record Store Day special, and it's one of the top performers from the music industry initiative. The short live release arrived to coincide with the 2025 edition of the annual event. It features three tracks performed live by Springsteen and The Killers at a Madison Square Garden concert back in October 2022. The set includes performances of 'Badlands,' 'Dustland,' and 'Born to Run,' but until now, fans only had memories and online footage. Until Record Store Day 2025, the guest appearance had never been released commercially, which made this offering that much more thrilling for superfans of both The Killers and Springsteen.

Bruce Springsteen Scores A New Hit As Fans Prepare For A Deluge Of Music

Bruce Springsteen earns another hit single in the United Kingdom this week, though it's a minor win for the rocker. 'Rain in the River' launches a new era for the legendary musician, though not in the way many might have expected. The tune fronts an ambitious box set, not a standard studio album, and yet it still manages to find an audience – as does pretty much everything 'The Boss' releases. 'Rain in the River' makes its first appearance on a pair of charts in the U.K. this week, though it only just barely manages to sneak onto both tallies. The new track opens at No. 96 on the Official Singles Downloads chart and lands one spot lower, at No. 97, on the Official Singles Sales list. Both rankings are compiled entirely around pure purchases, and 'Rain in the River' performs nearly identically on each. Its nearly-matching positions suggests that it was not a bestseller on physical formats, which can bring a title to different slots. Most tunes land in similar spaces, especially when they're brand new. With his new hit, Springsteen extends his track record of bestsellers in the U.K. 'Rain in the River' gives him his fifteenth placement on the Official Singles Downloads chart. The tune marks his milestone tenth appearance on the Official Singles Sales roster. 'Rain in the River' is not a standalone single. It serves as the lead cut from Springsteen's upcoming box set, Tracks II: The Lost Albums. The massive release is made up of seven full-length efforts, all of which were recorded — and in many cases, even mixed and mastered — over the years, but never officially released. Springsteen announced the expansive project earlier this year. The full box set is slated to arrive at the end of June, and it will be available in multiple formats. Fans who don't want to shell out $350 for the full collection will still have options, and it begins with this first song. While it's not a major smash, the fact that it sold well enough to chart at all is a sign that Springsteen's new collection will also likely be a winner when it arrives.

Bruce Springsteen to release seven ‘lost albums'

Bruce Springsteen has announced seven new 'lost albums' of unreleased songs he has recorded over a 35-year period. The Grammy-winning American singer, 75, said he had now 'finished everything I had in my vault' over the years. Tracks II: The Lost Albums, to be released on June 27, includes 83 tracks recorded by Springsteen between 1983 and 2018. The Dancing in the Dark singer, one of the best-selling musicians of all time, said in a video: 'I often read about myself in the 90s as having some lost period or something. Really, I was working the whole time. 'During the pandemic, what I did for that period of time was I finished everything I had in my vault. So this is Tracks II: The Lost Albums. [They] are records that were full records, some even to the point of being mixed and not released. 'For one reason or another, something I felt was missing from some of them, or they just didn't feel complete at the time. Over a period of time, I built up a small collection of full albums that, for one reason or another, never got put out.' On Thursday, he released the song Rain in the River, which comes from the 'lost album' Perfect World. The six others are called LA Garage Sessions '83, Streets Of Philadelphia Sessions, Faithless, Somewhere North Of Nashville, Inyo and Twilight Hours. 'Different musical directions' The collection, being released through Sony Music, was described as filling in 'rich chapters of Springsteen's expansive career timeline while offering invaluable insight into his life and work as an artist'. The musician told his fans: 'I've played this music to myself and often close friends for years now. I'm glad you'll get a chance to finally hear them. I hope you enjoy them.' He explained that recording at home whenever he wanted to allowed him 'to go into a wide variety of different musical directions' with the expansive collection. The lost albums will come in limited-edition nine LP, seven CD and digital formats with a 100-page cloth-bound, hard cover book featuring archival photos and a personal introduction to the project from Springsteen. A companion set called Lost And Found: Selections From The Lost Albums will feature 20 highlights from across the collection, available on two LPs or one CD. Springsteen, also known as The Boss, has been making music for decades and formed his backing group the E Street Band in 1972. He has won 20 Grammys across his career, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Tracks II: The Lost Albums will be released via Sony Music on June 27, and Springsteen will be performing in the UK in May and June.
