FDCA raid ghee unit, seize 2,700 kg stock on suspicion of adulteration
Ahmedabad: The Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA), in collaboration with the Surendranagar district food supply officer, conducted a raid at a ghee manufacturing unit in Gugaliyana village of Thangadh taluka on Tuesday.
During the operation, they confiscated 2,700 kg of stock valued at Rs 13 lakh.
FDCA commissioner H G Koshia said, "Our team raided Shiv Industries and Maheshwari Products and Chemicals, run by Rajesh Chavda, and found stock of branded ghee (Shree Bhog), loose ghee, butter, and refined palmolein oil. There is a suspicion of adulteration in the ghee. So, we took samples of four items. Our team seized stock weighing 2,700 kg, worth about Rs 13 lakh from the spot. We sent the samples to the laboratory for testing, and once the testing results arrive, we will carry out further legal processes.
