Day After, No Progress Of Monsoon Over Vidarbha

Nagpur: The northern limit of the southwest monsoon remained over the southern parts of Gadchiroli on Thursday, after arriving in Vidarbha 18 days ahead of schedule. However, a brief intense spell of rain lashed several parts of the city between 4pm and 6pm.
The moderate rainfall caught many people unawares, and they had to take shelter under flyovers or nearby kiosks. Waterlogging was seen in many areas.
The IMD said the southwest monsoon further advanced into some more parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, some more parts of the North Bay of Bengal, the remaining parts of the northeastern states, and some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and entire Sikkim on Thursday. "The northern limit of the monsoon continues to pass through Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri, Sandhead Island, and Balurghat.
Conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon over some more parts of West Bengal and Bihar during the next 1-2 days," the IMD said.
Meanwhile, a parked car was damaged after a tree fell on it near Rajabaksha Mandir, close to Medical College Square, early Thursday morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, fire officials said.
The control room of the fire department received a call at around 5.50am regarding the mishap.

The uprooted tree fell on a car owned by Rajgopal Jham. A team from the Cotton Market Fire Station was immediately dispatched to the site. Firefighters successfully removed the tree and cleared the debris from the road. The damage was estimated at Rs2.50 lakh.
The incident caused a temporary traffic disruption on the busy road stretch, which remains congested throughout the day due to its proximity to the Govt Medical College and Hospital. It took nearly two hours for the fire brigade to complete the clearance operation and restore normal traffic flow.
