Madurai: The Protector of Emigrants (POE), Chennai, under the ministry of external affairs, Govt of India, in coordination with Madurai police, conducted raids on multiple premises of illegal recruiting agents operating in Melur in the district on Thursday. The action was initiated based on credible information regarding the presence of several unauthorized agents in the area. Melur is notorious for having the highest concentrations of illegal recruiting agents in the state. POE for the regions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Rajkumar M, urged all those seeking employment abroad to exercise utmost caution. In a statement, he emphasized the importance of securing overseas employment only through authorized by the ministry of external affairs (MEA) and only on valid work visas. He advised all aspiring overseas job seekers to verify the credentials of recruitment agencies before making any financial commitments. A list of licensed recruitment agents is available at Rajkumar also issued a stern warning to individuals or entities facilitating illegal emigration. "It is a punishable offence under the Emigration Act, 1983, for any agent to send Indian citizens abroad without a valid recruitment licence. Such agents must immediately halt their activities and obtain necessary authorization. Strict action will be taken against all violators. Additional raids are planned in the region in the coming months," he said. Rajgir safari timings change due to heat

Patna: Due to increasing heat and heatwave warning, the timings of Rajgir's Zoo Safari and Nature Safari will change from Wednesday. Both these tourist spots will remain open from 6am to 2pm, divisional forest officer (DFO) Rajkumar M and Ram Sundar M, the director of zoo safari, said in a joint order on Wednesday. Visitors will be allowed to enter the zoo safari and Nature Safari till 12 noon. The visitors have also been advised to take necessary precautions while visiting the safari parks to protect themselves from the heat. According to the bulletin issued by Bihar Meteorological Centre, the maximum temperature in Rajgir has been recorded above 40 degree Celsius, with the forecasts suggesting further rise in temperature in the afternoon for the next few days. The change in timings has been made with the aim of ensuring the safety of tourists and the conservation of wildlife, said the order.
