Jarkhar Academy wins Prithipal Singh Hockey Festival jr trophy
Ludhiana: Jarkhar Academy has won the 15th Olympian Prithipal Singh Hockey Festival-2025 in the junior category, with a 1-0 score over RoundGlass Kila Raipur Hockey Centre on Sunday. The only goal of the match for Jarkhar was scored in the first half while Dilpreet Singh, the goal keeper was declared the match hero as he managed to save goal attempts by the rival team. RoundGlass Kila Raipur Hockey Centre team had stormed into the final after defeating Nankana Sahib School Rampur Chhanna 4-0, with Rajveer Singh earning the 'Dabur Hero of the Match' title. In the second junior semi-final, Jarkhar Academy had blanked Ek Noor Academy 5-0 in a dominating performance. Dharamveer Singh of Jarkhar was named the match hero. The 15th Olympian Prithipal Singh Hockey Festival-2025, being organized by Mata Sahib Kaur Sports Charitable Trust at Jarkhar, had witnessed thrilling semi-final clashes on its eighth day last evening under floodlights at the blue astroturf of Mata Sahib Kaur Sports Complex. In the senior category, Jarkhar Hockey Academy and Neeta Club Rampur have secured their places in the finals. In a nail-biting first semi-final, Jarhkar Academy edged out last year's champions Dr Kuldeep Singh Moga Club by 5-4. Gursatinder Singh Pargat was the star of the match, scoring a hat-trick, while Surinder Singh Shinda was declared the 'Dabur Hero of the Match'. In the second semi-final, Neeta Club Rampur defeated a strong Kila Raipur side with a commanding 6-2 win. Meanwhile, in the junior division, both RoundGlass Kila Raipur Hockey Centre and Jarkhar Academy made history by reaching the finals for the first time. Commending the academy's role in promoting sports and nurturing young talent, former national hockey player and businessman Jagjit Singh Sekhon announced a financial grant of Rs 50,000 to Jarkhar Hockey Academy to support its development efforts.

On camera: Youth misbehaves with cops during traffic check in Indore
Indore: A youth was sent to jail after he misbehaved with police officers during a routine traffic check near a dhaba in Bhawarkuan area on Monday night. ACP Devendra Dhurve said that Rajveer Singh, a resident of Tilak Nagar, was passing through the checkpost on a two-wheeler. When stopped and tested with a breathalyser, it was confirmed that he had consumed alcohol. To avoid action, the youth began arguing with the police and the situation escalated into a physical altercation. The officers managed to restrain him and took him to police station. A case was registered against him under the Excise Act and he was produced before the ACP court on Tuesday, following which he was sent to jail. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the youth engaging in a scuffle with the police. A large crowd gathered at the scene. Police said that similar incidents recently occurred in areas like Azad Nagar, Khajrana, Chhoti Gwaltoli and Rajendra Nagar during checking operations, where attacks on police were also reported. All such cases have been addressed under sections related to obstructing govt work.

4 cops suspended in Ajmer over alleged bribery, unlawful arrest
Ajmer: Ajmer SP Vandita Rana Monday suspended the SHO of Civil Lines police station, Rajveer Singh, head constable Ramniwas Vishnoi, and two other constables, Sitaram and Chandra Prakesh, after receiving an inquiry report against them for allegedly demanding money and arresting a person without following the law. SP Rana confirmed the suspension orders of these police said that a person from Ajmer wanted to purchase land in Noida, while the land owner resides in Jaipur. The person from Ajmer paid some amount to the land owner but later decided not to purchase it and demanded the advance money back. The police called the land owner to Ajmer, and on May 5, as per the allegations, they took him to a hotel on the Ajmer-Jaipur road and threatened him to return the advance money, as well as demanded more four police personnel were present. They took the owner to the police station and later arrested him for disturbing peace. The allegation revealed that the police took Rs 10 lakh from the owner. The land owner's son complained to the Ajmer SP and to officials in New Delhi. SP Ajmer directed CO North Rudra Pratap Sharma to conduct an inquiry into this matter. Sharma preliminarily investigated the charges and submitted the report to Rana. After the inquiry report, the Ajmer SP suspended all four police personnel.
